A Few Questions Regarding The Current Conflict Zone CG

So first off, yay for new CG's! After last weeks being finished so quickly (I think within 2 days of its creation?) I think we're all stoked to see 2 CG's this week, with both having 2 week timers.

Regarding the Emperor's Dawn CG, I have a mechanical question and a kind-of "lore" question.

I'll start with the "lore-ish" question. It was my understanding that these guys are widely considered by most folks in the Galaxy as a splinter-cell group of terrorists. I mean, they claimed responsibility for murdering the Emperor, did they not? Why then, are they considered as having a Major-Faction alignment with the Empire within the game? Their faction info in the system map even lists them as an Anarchy-Government. To my knowledge, I've never before seen ANY anarchy faction in the game with a Major-Faction alignment that wasn't Independent. The way they are currently represented in the game, if you were to do missions for these guys and things that would generally help them, you would actually be gaining rep with the Empire. What the what?? The Empire HATES these guys!

And that leads me to my mechanics/gameplay question. Putting aside whether or not it makes sense, since this faction IS in fact aligned to a Major-Faction, does killing their ships within a Conflict Zone negatively/positively affect your reputation with that Major Faction? This question is actually relevant to all Conflict Zones really, not just this CG.

Discuss! And thanks for answers in advance.

I suppose since they claim to have some righteous association with the Empire, that's what the game is representing. I've destroyed about 2 M worth of their ships (bond value), and have up-arrows against both the Federation and the Empire. I haven't been doing anything else this game session so I don't seem to be losing reputation with the Empire for this – quite the opposite.

Here's a question to add to the thread though. Why the blazes are they flying Federation ships? I know it's not so hard for us independent commanders to get access to both Imperial and Federation ships – the militaries don't seem to particularly mind privateers playing both sides. But Emperor's Dawn are a known terrorist group apparently with no allies in the 'verse, yet have access to dozens of Federal Dropships, Assault Ships and Gunships. Something's fishy here.

My guess would be that they are stolen/acquired through black market means. With the human "universe" being as large and varied as it is in 3301 I can't imagine its really all that hard to get your hands on anything really.

I have noticed that my Empire rep has had a blue arrow up as well, and I actually am at 2mil turned in too. So the effects of hunting these guys seems to be following logic, but the way they are represented by the games information does not.

But they're flying no Imperial ships. The 'real' explanation may lie with game coding, but lore-wise it's… peculiar. I haven't seen a single Clipper or Courier, yet I've seen a lot of Federation ships. I agree that they could be acquired on the black market, but it seems odd that an Imperial faction would be choosing to acquire exclusively Federation ships (as opposed to Imperial ships).

That is actually an interesting point... I didn't realize it until you just brought it up, but you're right. They aren't flying any imperial ships whatsoever. Strange...
