where am i going? non-combat reticle would be a nice option

[SOLVED] where am i going? non-combat reticle would be a nice option

when i am docking it would be nice to know where i am pointing.
i seem to drift in random directions because i don't know where the ship is pointed.

i suppose there are people that DON'T want a dot in the middle of where they are looking, so make it optional.

also i would like to hear from anyone that thinks this is a bad idea, and why they think it is a bad idea.

Yup, mouse widget turned on, even if you have all other mouse functions disabled (like me with my head tracker and HOTAS) works like a charm. Its perfect for 'pointing' things out while I am doing a video or something.

The widget can be really nice, especially when you're in a new ship trying to figure out where you need to be in a mailslot to not bonk your top or bottom, I do wish it was smaller though, or that we could size it up and down with a slider.

There is a mouse widget you can turn on in control options.

yes! thank you all for your help.
this will work fine.

i agree that variable size and shape would be nice, but to have anything at all is quite nice.

Not a solution.

When you use fixed weapons, it makes it very confusing to aim.
Everyone playing with a mouse or just enabling it to have the marker will disagree I'm sure.
The mouse widget is a square - none of the reticules use a square. Easy to tell them apart.

We need a reticle, when weapons are retracted, which would disappear once the weapons are deployed.
I don't, but if you do - okay.

Mouse widget is fine for this. I would, however, like some simple pro-grade(O), retro-grade(X) markers for FA OFF orientation.

I agree that the mouse widget (that splot of paint on the window) should be easily identifiable from the aiming marks for fixed weapons. It can get a bit confusing when trying to line up fixed weapons and one of the dots on your screen is the mouse widget.

Yep, when I have multiple railguns, pitch/yaw my ship and the mouse widget dances in between...well, that confuses me.

But well, asking for a reticle when hardpoints are retracted is like asking for a damn 3rd firegroup...there will always be people telling that it is just fine the way it is, and a year later, nothing will have changed...
