Have control bind options menus divided into tabs

Would you like to see the control binds divided into more manageable tabs?

I have been thinking this since the pre-1.0 beta, but now that Horizons is...On the horizon, while playing the beta, scrolling through the controls to edit the binding I want, or even finding the correct binding is even more of a task than it has been previously.

It would be much more practical and manageable if the control bind menus were divided into tabs for flight controls, weapon controls, galaxy map, SRV etc.

Voted for yes, however, that's with the proviso that the groupings are logical and allow you to default them individually or as a whole, and that you can set them up so that things that you physically can't use at the same time as something else can still have the same control assigned without the other being unassigned. Also please sanity check the duplicate entries on the controls (Not had a chance to play the Horizons beta yet but here is where I'm talking about)?

That's a given, really.

I'd also like to suggest that you can have different controllers selected for the two different vehicle types (I know you can spend hours doing a custom control set). It would be so much easier to set HOTAS for ship and xbox controller for SRV that way.

Voted yes and would fully support this option as well.

It should be only a minor UI tweak to make it faster to access the keybinds I want like it's possible in other flight simulators, so I'm all in favour of it.

Voted YES, as from the get-go the controls UI is quite messy. It has also seen a huge increase in length and complexity, turning into a long bloated list.

On top of that, I'd like to see an option to print it (paper or PDF), which would help a lot to set up our joystick/throttle/rudder/additional keyboard rigs.

Thank you FDev to think about the ergonomic aspect sometimes!

I voted NO, because I've seen other games do this, and I spend my time searching different tabs looking for what I want. IMHO it's easier just to scroll, rather than have to click a tab, scroll without finding what I want, click next tab, scroll, etc, etc.

MY suggestion is that the user can "collapse" different sections that they are not interested in. There a lots of sections that are irrelevant to me, yet I have to scroll past them every time.

edit: Or an even better alternative suggestion: Provide some "tabs" (really buttons) that just auto-scroll you to the relevant section. This gives you "tab-like" behaviour, without forcing you to use tabs to get somewhere. Basically they would be shortcuts. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS :)

That could work nicely... (as long as the section shortcuts remained at the top of the screen all the time and didn't scroll up)
