CQC Sell Elite Dangerous CQC as a Cheap Standalone Game

This would do 3 important things....

1. Introduce casual gamers to the Elite Dangerous Universe at a low price point.
2. Hugely increase player base for CQC matchmaking.
3. Hook casual gamers on space combat which will in turn fortify base game sales.

It could be the next Rocket League (8 million copies sold on Steam alone)... You never know.

Never underestimate the potential of an accessible price point.

I think this is an excellent idea.

I think FD are afraid this would make new players think ED is only about combat, and lower the main game sales...

I agree that releasing CQC as a standalone could be a good thing, but first it would need a little more content, and there would have to be some solid marketing around it to clearly differentiate the main game with it.

Also I'm afraid some people would start to request the base ED to be sold without CQC for cheaper because they're not interested in it, which would probably create yet another forum storm...

CQC is not yet ready for going as a standalone. It needs a year or two of polishing at Frontier's current pace - then they will get positive and welcoming reviews on it.
Right now it's great where it is - as a really great addition to main game with huge potential (both CQC and main game :) )

The very existence of CQCC means that there are people out there who assume that Elite: Dangerous is only about combat. Marketing it as a stand-alone game might help clear up any misunderstandings.

I don't understand why it would create another forum storm but I suspect that you are right. The only thing I can add is that releasing it as its own game might encourage them to flesh it out a bit; give it bots, more of a level playing field, make it easier to arrange fights with friends. I'd be quite happy if they went down that road.

CQC is part of the game, but it looks like it's there only to drain some stress from some commanders that have millions CR of hardpoints and not shooting a round for "LY".
Is a bit like when you go and play soccer with friends.

Already creating a HOST list and giving the possibility to create custom lobbies would help a lot, but Also a Ranking separate by ships or other stuff would increase the competition.
If you cannot create maps, why don't give this options to the players? give them a "CUBE" of space to edit, like in the fist FarCry Games. With this option people would not complain for Buggy maps. ;)

I would also ask to remove the gimbaled weapons and leave them all fixed.

I think that for now Frontier is not looking much at CQC.

Hmmm... not a bad idea OP, but a good point was made about then confusing those people into thinking that the rest of ED was like that. The marketing would have to somehow make that clear.

Completely rigth and the last sale price in Steam for the hole game was quite cheap. So even if I like the OP idea, I think that the last price was low enough.

Selling it separately, or even giving it away free would be the best move. They are trying to mash 2 completely different types of game together and it doesn't really work.

The problem is people who want to play space quake have to buy the full game just to access CQC, which is just something which has been tacked on to the main game. So they won't do that.

But most people who buy the game to play Elite couldn't care less about it (I don't), so you will never get enough players on board. Which is why it's already pretty dead.
