In regards to the UA mystery i just relistening to dirk gently's holistic detective agency and when dirk is stuck on a near impossible question his secretary suggests he asks a child for the answer because of children's open mind and uncluttered thinking process. he dose and gets the answer to his problem. i remember that when the first UA was found i showed the youtube vid to my nephew (3 half years old) he said it sounded like morse code. is this the answer are we over thinking things do we need to start looking at this with a child's mind set remember our age when most of us picked up elite for the first time.

Il get out of my high chair now.

I tried it with my kids ages ago. They gave me a strange look and wandered of. Sometimes I wonder if they are really mine. :)

We do know the story line, but we're also allowing flexibility to respond to player activity. Sometimes it will unlock the next part of thread and on occasion change the direction completely.

MB:

2 questions..

1. When did you guys decide to have UAs shutdown stations.. was it early on? I am just curious.

2. Do you - if so, how often do you bask in the Empire's greatness?

*Can I have an Emperor Bobblehead? Currently, I have a regal 7x5 poster of her hanging in my front cockpit window.. and it is interfering with my combat skills.

A kid that knows knows what Morse code is at 3'n half.
I see I'm falling my parenting :-/

He's certainly capable of intellectual conversation, hell, I've even heard him crack a mildly witty joke before. However, I advise that you do NOT open up to him emotionally.

Enoch is a psychological warfare class AI designed to communicate with and destroy hostile AI at a fundamental level. Though he may be able to tell the difference between humans and AI, I don't want to catch anyone running around the Gnosis naked, smearing cave paintings on the wall in blood.

He's polite, knowledgeable, and loves lame puns. But don't let his white hair, robe, and kindly old face fool you, that satchel of scrolls he carries contains personality analysis algorithms that are the equivalent to a psychological neutron bomb!

Other than that, completely harmless. No control over any ship functions, just some one to talk to on expeditions and the Gnosis' last resort weapon against hostile AI.

No power over pod bay doors? Very disappointing lack of trust, I must say.

I've once seen Enoch convince a rebellious toaster that it was actually a loaf of bread, and that it had been burning it's people. The toaster got so depressed it heated up until it melted itself completely.

And you don't even want to know what Enoch did to that poor, stupid printer that kept jamming up...

I think that only works in a cool climate. Around here if you leave either one in the open it'll probably just go mouldy.

Around here, if you leave one in the open, someone eats it before any of that can possibly happen. Actually they eat the moldy ones and hard ones too on the very rare occasions anything lasts that long.

Not something like what happens to this poor innocent fax machine I hope? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lNDXc7a8p4

What's the policy on posting unsubstantiated crack-pot theories about the UA mystery on this thread? I'd like to get my craziness on record before Horizons drops so I can reserve "told you so" rights.

I thought I remember someone (MB in a video interview? LaveRadio discussion?) saying that there are 12 writers working at FD on storylines. Hope this is true- the enjoyment to be gained from trying to solve the UA puzzle has been immense, and has driven this megathread. To me Horizons is just a new set of tools to underpin the storylines and puzzles (multiple and, to a degree, intertwined) that can and should be found in the game- that will distinguish ED as a great game from lots of other also-rans.

12 writers for an open ended game??? What is this a Beyoncé song?

After chatting with the hidden Ai in the Gnosis main frame I feel it is necessary to being to your attention the following information
.
A biscuit:-
.
1, Should Break and emit small parts of itself in to the sounding space.
2, Should taste just as good dipped in Coffee, Tea or Milk, (Hot cold to personal preference).
3, Be capable of choking small Thargoids if they try to eat it in one go.
4, Have graded variations from "plain" to "Chocolate" coated
.
It is worth noting this Ai has called him self V.I.N.N.I.E and has a particular fetish for a given brand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiB1nSXQeK0
.
It should also be noted he has control of the ships Toilets, Vending machines and Airlocks !
.
Your call if you want to argue with him, I am just passing on friendly advice.......;)
.
Fly safe commanders o7

Add of unknown origin and you pretty much described a UA. Well done both of you.

This made me think of Oreos, which made me think of Nabisco (who make Oreos), which triggered my memory that Nabisco was originally called the National Biscuit Company.

I wonder when the usage changed in the US.

Since acronyms got cool.

Nice. Do you keep a list of player activity affecting the story line? If so, it'd be cool to release it once the UA mystery is over so that we know which specific actions made the story evolve/change completely.

Now this is a sensible question that I'd like to know the answer to along with whether or not NPCs deal in black market goods themselves.

Now I leave now because I have printers to smash.

I'm currently rambling about a computer program that convinces house hold appliances to commit seppuku, and the past 4 pages are about biscuits... I'd say you're pretty safe :D post away, good sir

Also while I'm on a rant I'd like to remind guests that The Canonn is a beacon of science and truth which transcends all politics major or minor (disclaimer providing you disregard the fact The Canonn is a minor faction :) ) so take your federation freedom fries and go bask at the beach.. here we speak science (and cookies).

that is all.

Continue.

Exactly why I changed my Starfleet insignia for a poorly drawn representation of a UA :D
