Such an awesome looking base. It gave me a Star Wars vibe.

Agreed .. 100%
.. especially when there are missions *inside* the base

minor faction: go get me 2 tons fruit and veg from circle base #2 ..
when the road between bases is lined, with controlling faction SRV's and skimmers perhaps.

Didn't even think of that.
The future possibilities are endless.

CMDRs BE ADVISED!

Intelligence reports suggest a hostile force amassing in a nearby system. (exact location unknown)

Intentions: Prate Raid (85% probability) of New Horizons settlement.

Hostile ETA: 30min

Force: 200 fighter/bombers, 20 dropships/trooptransport with 200+ surface vehicles

ATTENTION

Settlement quarantine imminent. All docking pads will be put under lockdown. All civilian and non military traffic is advised to leave dock or re-route to alternate destinations immediately.

Requesting assistance from all remaining pilots at New Horizons and ANY combat ready ships in range. Surface combat vehicles and armory access will be provided for grounded pilots (docked ships will be impounded for the duration of the lockdown).

Assistance will not go unrewarded.

Good luck and god speed!

I don't know about "star wars" vibe specifically but yeah, that's a pretty awesome base. I know "walking around" is sometime in the far future but the more cool structures FD add to ED the more the game cries out for "things to do inside them" - I'm glad of my LEP that I'll get to see it when it eventually happens :)

Looks like someone chopped the top off Cloud City and plunked it on a moon. Round is a natural shape for building in space, so inevitable there will be similarities:

Yes, it would be stunning if they could model a "lower half" for that city, and park it in orbit as a new kind of outpost.

Or better, construct it so that TWO of those cities are back to back, creating a double-sided space city outpost.

Wow!

That sounds like something that should be implemented in season 2 or 3. :D +1 Repped.

I just parked here. Couldn't get a slot slot, so I went for the rooftop parking :-

The ship rocked a bit when I cut the engines, and I only noticed how high up the top of the main tower was when the engines went cold. Good job I didn't tip over the edge:-

Now that just makes me wonder if there's a way to rooftop park such that you can deploy your SRV and have it glitch inside the structure :) Of course it will likely be transparent from the inside since there's no way FD would waste graphics on the inside faces... but still..

Nope, the Deploy SRV button is inactive unless you have landed on a pad or on a flat spot of ground. I have tried a forced landing on rough terrain (cut engines at zero altitude/speed) with the same results. Shame really, but I guess it prevents players from deploying SRVs in stupid places.

LOL! If you were rooftop parking in the first place I might have guessed you'd also have the mindset to try it. Have some rep :)
