Ship Builds & Load Outs Upgrading Modules at Discount Stations Question?.

At 15% discount systems like Li Yong Ru etc, if you are just upgrading a few modules eg is it better to sell first and then buy the upgraded module(s) or just do it all in the one transaction. What I mean is, if you sell the old module you get the full price repaid and then get a 15% discount on the new one. Selling and buying in the one transaction you get the 15% discount but it would only be on the difference, no?.

-If you are changing the module size or class (upgrading a 5A to a 6A for example) it doesn't matter since you get 100% return on purchase price so it doesn't matter.
-If you are trying to replace a module (5A for 5A) then you have to wait for the station inventory to refresh since it will offer you buyback without the discount.

In case you don't know I keep a discount thread here :): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=155377

Thanks for the replies, I had amassed a few credits and wanted to upgrade my Asp Explorer/Miner from a 4B to a 4A power plant as well as upgrade the weapons to beam laser and turreted canons which was a cost of around 6.5 million credits. When I did it on a calculator there was a clear difference on the minus side if I just clicked on the buy & upgrade button which meant that I only got the 15% discount on the difference, whereas if I sold for example the 4B power plant first and then bought the 4A I got the discount off the full price of the A4 and also the 100% resale price of the old module. Anyway rather than lose out when I got to Jadlillke I just sold the modules first and then upgraded them afterwards. Thanks for the link which I've subscribed to now.

Thats really interesting I've never noticed that and if it's true then it shouldn't work like that at all (I suspect a bug).

I'm away this weekend but will test it next week and let you know what I've found :)
