Police

I imagine a twenty spaceships of the police go out at the same time from the space station as a swarm of bees from the hive, with sirens shrieking and flashing lights

NO NO NO NOOO NOOOOOO

After X rebirth and its police with sirens I am allergic on that idea of police spaceships with sirens and flashing lights!

On screen indicator is enough! Like when we see pilots name. Instead of pilots name it will be just POLICE and ships will be in blue colors without any flashing lights and s***

Space is not road with traffic so we don't need siren sound and flashing lights and any similar road traffic rules!

If you stay honest you should not undergo this sort of troubles ...

;)

...It is like bad parking but I didnt see anywhere that police show up and execute driver with barrage of lead. Even in silly usa where police are hyper gun nuts...
Do you think that if you parked across the gates of the White House, with a rifle over your shoulder, that the police would turn up and just ask you to leave? And if you refused to immediately comply, do you think they'd shoot you?

An armed spaceship inside a station where hundreds of thousands of people live can cause an awful lot of damage. And one who refuses to comply with warnings, or opens fire into the city...?

I don't see a problem with the current response. In Classic Elite, one accidental laser shot into a station provoked a Viper kill-squad.

Why you think that everybody lives in usa? I dont care what police would do to you in that weird country with gun nuts police that shoots guy with knife that just slowly walks from one place to another and they send 30+ bullets at him. And 90% of muricans agree to that type of treating dangerous people.
I live in country where police try to stop not kill and shoots only in very very rare cases and when they shoot they try to injure that person shooting his legs or other parts that will not cause immediate death.
I live in normal country where police try to save life too and dont play judge. So your question for me is almost meaningless.

You forgot that this game have something like holster weapon. If you are so americanized then how do you imagine wild west situation that cowboy with holstered weapon dont listen to sheriff? Sheriff just pulls out his guns and send 12+ bullets at that guy ?!

Americans are so freaking weird.

Thanks for the rant, but I live in the UK, our cops are not even armed.

You refered to the USA, and I used it as an example of a place where the cops and civilians have guns, like all the ships in Elite.

Of course there will be Vipers coming out of the station , it would be a crime in itself if that was not in the game.

That was one of the iconic memories from Elite, almost as much as the space stations themselves.

I do think there should be a weapon systems override while in the Station hangar. Not to nanny players who fire accidentally, but just from a station management perspective.

Once you have docking clearance and enter the bay, the same station override that manages your ship's rotation matching with the station interior, takes your weapons offline. It would prevent accidental fire in the bay and protect station personnel and property.

That way it raises the seriousness of entering the station without docking permission, and would justify a swift armed response from station security.

PS. perhaps not right now in Alpha however, as the station AI appears to have a personality disorder ;)

Police in Frontier had flashing lights, however I don't expect to them appear in ED.

Current "police" are Fed fighters, and they are easy to deal with. Vipers are more like flying tanks, no cockpit window, camera based cockpit, and they will be like a doom. But I guess Vipers will be seen only in more stable systems.

I'm expecting enforcement ships to vary depending on factional ownership; Vipers for corporate States, Fed/Imp fighters in their domains, mixed Sidewinder/Krait/Boulder for Anarchies in the wilderness, etc
