i need to listen to a few vids etc but I reckon i will bite at this one.

Most of the problems with the DK1 seem to be fixed. I will only be using for racing games and ED so the not being able to look 180degs behind properly should not be an issue.

the price seems ok at $350. To those who have ordered already, what is the postage costs to the UK, and would it work out cheaper for a few to get together and do a bulk order (I am near cambrdige UK)

When I ordered my DK1 in feb (at the start of alpha) it came from the UK. I live in Belgium so if the same company ships then them it would be cheap i guess...
:D

I just broke. And am now broke.
I wonder how much of a delay in delivery 42 hours difference in ordering time will make?

I suspect they will probably deliver in batches to regions. They set up some sort of distribution network for DK1 - mine was delivered from within the UK (nicely avoiding import taxes and VAT; they've added that on in advance this time.) So anyway, it's fairly likely we'll get them all at the same time, from the same batch.

in the grand scheme of things though it was probably still made before the world wide masses got their mitts on it.

I would expect (hope) batches to be made in the 1000's not the 100's

ps all we need is a few more slow pokes and I will be elevated to the top half of the table ;)

I live in the UK. Postage and import tax was around $80 total. And yes, the Rift was already located in the UK - so it was very expensive to have to pay import duty on an item that was already in the country.

Nope, can't wait for consumer version, had to order :)

It's scheduled for July and so I figure August.

I think it will be at least 6 months before we see the retail version .... And I must play ED with it before 2015 !

But after, you will buy the retail version ? (which will certainly be improved)

I ordered too. Eta July sometime. My theory is it means I can wait for cv1 to mature and maybe get cv2. I reckon consumer rift may be mid 2015 before they are readily available anyway. Dk2 means there is no rush.

Very much this.

While Palmer did say that CV1 will be superior, I suspect that DK2 will nicely fit the gap and probably be very usable until then, and beyond.

While it's not quite there for full presence, 1080p @ 75hz with 100fov horizontal is *much* more than those NVGs that I used to wear while flying (think looking through a toilet paper tube), and the resolution is superior per degree than the last full flight sim I used to practice in - not counting the latency and frame rate.

And Mad Mike, as you say - this kit should be able to last and work perfectly until a much superior CV2 comes out - if tech history can be relied upon.
