Horizons Horizon wipe

Well, I know for me, I've struggled to figure out how to make cr.
Still don't know, for the life of me I don't get trading, I know it's the concept buy low sell high,
but I just don't get it. Once I figured out I can make about 3 mill an hour or so with RES I did that
and yes I know someone will say they make more then that in 30 min. I would love to do that but,
just cant get my head wrapped around trading.

Although I am fixing to check out the BB on the stations. Last time I checked them was in April. . . perhaps things have
changed.

p.s. I also found the site Inara.cz. So I am tracking where I been and my credtis, although for some reason I am always about 40-100 cr off of my assets. . .

Besides, this beta wasn't free. you had to pay for the access so i see a wipe as a big negative....

What the hell has that got to do with anything?

Whether I have paid or not (lifetime backer) makes no difference to that decision. For me it makes it more interesting to start from scratch. I can see why people wouldn't want to do that of course, but in the end nothing you have is real, its all virtual, so why does it really matter.

I did a wipe last new years, great fun and all that (had a spec cobra in about 4 hrs)

I also obligingly did a wipe in beta horizons... and suffered. (tale of warning woe)

My preferred way of making money was Combat Bonds. I'm a pretty ace pilot (even in a stock sidewinder), so I jumped right in...

And died. Said to myself "hmm that was weird" and tried abain.. and died. Now I owed Cr to my ship insurance company.. I want making money- I was losing it!

Turns out the Conflict zones were bugged (as soon as you chose a faction all enemy ships would target you/fire at you/pursue you ignoring all others)

The point is; my bank balance was deleted, then later unforeseen problems prevented my easy or rapid replacement. And Cr= options in the game.

.. and I really did not feel like mission grinding up to 80 million to get my FdL back... And I was stuck.

Conflict zones were fixed, but the point still stands- that feeling of "oh-god what did I just do?!" was not a pleasant feeling.

Come on ... Who's with me!!!!

I'm gonna wipe for Horizons, got to be done.

Yeah I'm with you dude,

I have this weird obsession with wiping whenever there's a content drop. I like to experiencing everything from the beginning like new ships and what not. I think I have a problem! I never seem to get past an ASP :)

Cheers,

-Todd

Not me, I don't get to come online enough to enjoy that, but I get your thinking and applaud you as it is the Pure thing to do. Besides think of all those out there who will think you are a newbie and find out to their cost you aren't RoFL

The time a player has put into earning the credits to buy their ships legitimately is far from virtual my friend -- that is very real. I think that people quickly forget that there are real people in the game that spend real time to earn what they have for a very small sliver of actual fun. I guess its a symptom of dealing with too many NPC's :p For some of us, grinding for no reason or only to have a few really good moments of fun (PVP with conda vs conda), is like repetitively rubbing glass in your eyes for a few moments of fun, its just not desirable.

I've been teetering back and forth with the idea for a couple weeks now. If I do it at all it'll be in the new year. But the thing is, I only see a certain number of pros and cons.

Pros:
Zero insurance claims - can try to reach Elite without getting my ass killed in one or more categories.
Thrill of working my way up from zero

Cons:
It took me a YEAR to get as far as I have (Dangerous, Broker, Elite), and getting ranking back and whatnot will be a pain.

I decided instead earlier this month to set aside my two favorite ships (my retired T6 I got to Elite Exploration in, and my Clipper tucked away in an Imperial mining region), then dumped all my money into an Anaconda and self destructed. Took the Sidewinder option.

It was kind of like starting over - downside was that because of my rank more lucrative job offers were available, but when I started with a wiped save during the Beta Test, I found almost as well paying jobs then too (almost).

Point being, from a money standpoint, I'd go from Sidewinder to Clipper just as fast either way, with the added grind of spending the next year getting where I was.

But that zero insurance claims is calling me... ;)

Mind you, regardless I still stand by the rules of my Pilot Ejection Table (with added more IronManish rules ;) )
