News Horizons and 1.5 launch - Servers offline

This is very annoying. The launcher presents ED 1.5 64b, , ED 32b, Horizons 64b.
I cannot install 1.5 64, get an error. Should I deinstall the 32 b version and then do the 64b install?
Why can't they give some instructions? This is trial and error with a slow conection. areghhh :(

That is what I had to do - uninstall the 32 bit client and install the 64 pit client in C:\Program files\

Well you can't even install 64 bit because of an error.

EDIT: Well I can play in aprox. 12 hours, downloading 0,4MB/s on a 200Mbit connection..

Well, a major upgrade with no announcement beforehand, lots of disgruntled CMDRs therefore. New launcher with no install instructions - do we install 32bit, then 64bit, then Horizons? MAJOR slow download speeds - currently at 2 days. Server status says "Issues Detected". Great game when it works, but currently the launch of Horizons seems like utter farce. Given that many of us paid around £40 for the original game and the same for the Horizons upgrade, this is one of the most expensive games available. Given this is therefore a premium product, FD need to up their game and do much better than this.

The world isn't ending tomorrow. You'll have plenty of time to play the game. Just have some patience.

Where do I find the 64bit client? When I go to my downloadable products the client (no idea which one) suggest the program files (x86) so that might be the 32 bits?
Confused...

I must have missed the prominent announcement yesterday and all last week and the last month stating that Horizons would be launched today and there would major downtime. Yes, we knew Horizons was coming - did you know exactly when it would be launched?

Just finished updating via Steam.
There's no option to play Horizons. I can only see Elite Dangerous 32 and 64-bit
Anybody ran into that issue?

Edit: Oh crap! Just noticed it's not been released on Steam yet! Gotta download it all over again now.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Yes i did.
Close the launcher
reopen - it should be blue and have the options for Horizons
this is the bad news - you still need to install Horizons....
the good news is that it was done in 10 mins.....

You can copy the folders inside the Products folder from your steam copy and put it into the Products folder of the frontier version and then install it
it should work
So you dont have to download it again

ive been downloading this now for near 3 1/2 hours on 100MB/s is anybody else having this sort of download time as people are talking about it being down in 10 mins Whats going on

There were numerous threads -also official ones- on this forum.
And if you didn't visit the forums it was in big letters in the top of the launcher.
Apart from a personal call from Braben I don't really know what else they could have done.

Well done a nice smooth upgrade Frontier.
I stayed up till 2 am this morning watching the livestream waiting for the servers up only to find out it was delayed a couple more hrs hahah. But i did managed to download the new Launcher!!!!
and was glad to see that my reinstallation of the H-beta yesterday wasn't wasted. I didn't have a major upgrade this morning when i woke up, just a small one :)
well done again and i hope the comming days are all easy sailing

Having been forced to go through this painful and slow 'upgrade' (I have not bought Horizons) I don't feel like playing now. All the fun has been drained away. I have only had this game for a month after paying a reasonable £29.99 and now to get the first update (of many) to Horizons is £49.99. So, they want nearly £80.00 for the complete game and expect customers to go through this awful process on a regular basis?? It's not happening!! I will write off the 29-99 as a bad buy and call it a day. Shame, as I used to play Elite II 25 years ago and loved it.
