To add commodities to EliteOCR:
Go to: TCE\EliteOCR\bin
Double click EliteOCR.exe and in the settings menu there is a commodities editor, commodities can be entered there.
I find that at the moment stock numbers are not being scanned in.
I don't have a full list of commodities, so if someone does could you please post them on this thread.
This is the only way I can see of getting the commodities scanned, that is until Eventure does his usual brilliant work and gets them into TCE.

Here my list of new commodities found so far:

Tradegood
SURFACE STABILISERS
EVACUATION SHELTER
CERAMIC COMPOSITES
META-ALLOYS
BUILDING FABRICATORS
GEOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT
SKIMMER COMPONENTS
THERMAL COOLING UNITS
MUON IMAGER
LAND MINES
CRYOLITE
GOSLARITE
PYROPHYLLITE
SYNTHETIC REAGENTS
LANTHANUM
THORIUM
THALLIUM
STRUCTURAL REGULATORS

Please post a missing, so I can add it.

The .net version is quite good on its way and an announcement will follow in the next days. So stay tuned.

This looks absolutely AWESOME.

Just gotta get it to work now lol

I've followed all the install instructions correctly (well - I *think* correctly...) and the addon pops up on my desktop perfectly but when I start Elite (64 bit version if that makes any difference) it doesn't appear to be 'connecting' to my game.

Total newb at this so any hints welcome - I assume I've got the wrong directories somehow but I used the autodetect and it seemed to pick up valid folders.

Please start TCE before starting Elite Dangerous after an install/update of Elite Dangerous, so TCE can modify the appconfig file.

You can add BOOTLEG LIQUOR (LEGAL DRUGS) to that list now. Can I just add it to the db with ID of 102, Oh and the GA is 408

I am still using EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 and it's working fine, no errors on scan!
Here you can download it for a test : http://bit.ly/1GfVWjM

TL : DR

I spent the best part of 2 hours trying to get scanning prices to work, it finally did work with EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 after I copied all my backed up DISPLAY SETTINGS. So the problem is a graphical setting, which I'll figure out another day. Time to play the game. :D

I still have the same problem, also, the miss read commodities are exactly the same ever time.

These are the things I've done to resolve it, none of worked or even made a difference.

===== I STARTED WRITING WHILST DOING THE LAST TEST =====

  1. Used EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 as was downloaded, no changes made, SAME PROBLEM SEEN.
    1. Re-scanned with EliteOCR V0.7, same problem
  2. Updated EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 with new commodities
    1. Did the same with with EliteOCR V0.7
  3. Scanned commodities and used EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 to go through the screenshots, no errors seen
    1. Did the same with with EliteOCR V0.7
  4. Scanning commodities with TCE, same problem with both EliteOCR V0.7 and EliteOCR V0.5.4.1.
  5. Replaced Custom.fxcfg with backup from Previous version of Elite
    1. Same problem with both EliteOCR V0.7 and EliteOCR V0.5.4.1.
  6. Replaced all files in ~\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics with backups
    1. Same problem with EliteOCR V0.7.
    2. BUT :D EliteOCR V0.5.4.1 appears to work. So it must be a graphic setting now I need to figure out which default setting I've changed. FOV is still max. Gamma and Dashboard brightness are the same...
      1. I'm not finding out now, as I've spent the best part of 2 hours doing all of the above.

***** WARNING *****

NO YOU CAN'T JUST ADD IT. As it needs to be updated in the Station Prices List for all, and possible needs updating elsewhere.

You add via DATABASE/WARES ---- D'OH

Are you absolutely sure you were using EliteOCR v0.5.4.1 from Eventure in your test?

I had the exact same problem as you with the latest release of EliteOCR under Horizons giving lots of errors and red "X"s, but installing Eventure's version over the top of it solved the commodity scanning problem with Horizons. Now I have no scanning errors.

Autodetect did not work for me on the Horizons update so go to your TCI.ini file (in TCE folder) and, assuming you are running 64-bit Horizons, change these 2 lines as follows where ***** is the path to your Frontier folder:

NetLogPath=*****\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64\Logs
AppConfigPath=*****\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64

Also, go to AppConfig.xml in the Products\elite-dangerous-64 folder, look for the "<Network" line towards the end and make sure you ADD the line VerboseLogging="1" before the Port line. I had to do this manually with the Horizons update although previously it was entered automatically by Eventure's excellent program.

<Network
VerboseLogging="1"
Port="0"

Rob

I did this, and TCE now sees the game and detects where I am in the game, but it can't figure out how far away stations are in LY. It's shown as (blank)LY in the status box at the top (for destination station) and (blank)LY when I click on the destination to see other stations I have in my DB.

*edit. Restarted TCE and ED and all is working correctly now. Although I'm not sure if installing the old OCR is worth it...does it keep the training you did??

It may have been noted, but please add "Colony" to Economy types. I am at a planetary outpost, and it's economy is shown as "Colony". That doesn't really tell you anything, but it's what is listed.

edit* Also, I added surface stabilisers, then saw that they were already listed. Now I show two surface stabilisers in the list, but I don't see a way to remove one. Is that going to hose my DB?

For those still having problems scanning, even after having followed all advice (Beat 4, "old" OCR version, etc) then it may be caused by a custom color scheme you are using. I had two different ones and both failed. When I reverted to the standard Orange, scanning was FLAWLESS and fast.

Cheers!

Read my post again please, it was a process that ironed out the problem in the end.

Testing isn't about being random, although that helps. It's about intuition, creativity and an eclectic knowledge base. And science. :D

I think I give up. I got OCR to work by changing to the version supplied by Eventure. The problem now is that after it works, and I hit "save" in TCE, and it appears to work, having scanned the prices correctly. I also add in the supply manually. Unfortunately, when I then go to commodity/view prices, all the prices are at 0. I'll just wait for the .net version and hope that my db isn't wired in the mean time.

Hi Eventure

Just a small thing the Imperial Cutter is missing from the ships list and can you add in the "Station Database" the Planet name for when we
add ground base/stations.

thanks dee...

Oops, sorry, missed the bit at the end!

Assuming you re-installed the old release over the previous one, then your test data images will still be there. Not sure if you need to rerun the training program again but so far all my scans at about a dozen stations have not had a single error so I have not tried re-training.

Hi Eventure,
I can see you are busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger and I am reluctant to bother you at this time but..... I have installed Horizons, TCE 1.56B4 and OCR and I have a problem.
- When I scan the commodity prices I get no results from OCR at all. I have looked in the OCR_BMP folder and the screenshot is there but there is nothing in the Export Folder. I tried installing the OCR 5.4.1 but that also is not working.

Has it worked before?

I know that the latest version has many graphical changes, I'm not sure yet what they are specifically, but my problem was resolved by using a backup of the graphical options folder from the last version of ED. I need to do some investigating to discover the true culprit.

Thank's Rob this worked a treat.

ALthough I assumed the autodetect had worked it had actually picked up on the log files for the combat training mode.

A quick edit sorted everything perfectly.

The .net version have it already, but this version will not get it. Sry.

Please use TDM to remove the double entry. It should sort it out. The .net version have a delete option already for stars, stations (now called markets) and wares.

Please tell me, if the "Colony" have a commodity market? If so, I will add it of course.

This may sound patronising, but it isn't meant to be.

I had a similar problem with something like this, I'd scan, think I'd saved it, then go back to view prices and notice everything was still at Zero. Then I realised why sometimes this happened and sometimes it didn't. It was because I wasn't clicking the SAVE button, but slightly missing it and clicking the menu bar instead which makes the commodities window disappear fooling me into thinking I'd saved the data when I hadn't. Just a thought.

Also, As I've mentioned previously, check your graphical settings as things have changed and the default settings for me, with some minor changes didn't let OCR work properly. I used a backup of my graphical settings and then all was fine.

Another new commodity:

BISMUTH : METALS : 2531

Hi Eventure

This seems to be a new problem with your "old" release of EliteOCR under Horizons. When I add a new station, after successfully scanning commodities the Exports and Trade Advisor (Outgoing ) boxes remain blank. This has happened to every NEW station I have added today:

No Exports.png

I copied the training pages, but as you said, it has not errored yet. So unless it does, I'll not go through the training again.

Sorry, I do not see where in TDM it lets you remove a ware. I will just wait on the .net version and fix it then.

Yes, at the planetary outpost, the economy is shown as "Colony" and it does have a commodity market.

Also, add: Nerve Agents: Chemicals: 13527

This may sound patronising, but it isn't meant to be.

I had a similar problem...
No problem. You are trying to help. After the first time it happened, I was very deliberate, and saw the "wait" after I clicked save. Anyway, today, it is saving the scanned data. No idea why.

I am also seeing this, but I am not entering values for 'supply'. Is that why?

You have to add a supply value yourself before saving. No stock = no exports = no advise.
