[Video] Stealth in a Cobra

Morning Commanders, as a few people have been requesting this I thought I would put together a video doing some sneaking in a Cobra.

In this video I equip my Cobra for bounty hunting in the Asteroid field and then test how well it works.

I am not entirely convinced it is that effective, but have a look for yourselves.

Sam, is the Sidewinder a better ship for a stealthy assasin in your opinion? It's small and nimble, and maybe it can hide it's emissions better.

Nice video, although I found it difficult to read all your text and follow what was going on in the screen at the same time!

I found it easier to stay hidden in the Side Winder, also when playing in stealth you do not get the advantage of the Cobras more powerful shields, again maybe making the Side Winder the better option.

Thanks for the feedback. I had quite a lot to say in this video but will try and make it more clear next time.

Also it is a good excuse to re watch it ;p

Why did you get a bounty for taking out criminals? Is this what the kill warrant is for? Or just a bug?

There's always been a bounty on criminals in all versions of Elite. Must be a bug if he got a bounty on himself for taking out a criminal though.

It is a bug, I should not have received a bounty on my head while killing those that have them.

What a kill scanner does is adds up bounties for each area. So if you met a pilot at the station who had a clean status in that area ie no bounty but had a bounty in the asteroids, by scanning him you could find out about that other bounty... if that makes any sense?

Like the antimissile system on a battlemech. It looks the bolts it shoots are not quite lightspeed, judging from the anacondas.

How effective is it?

You are right, laser was the wrong word they fire at a lot below c.

I am not sure on the effectiveness there was a cmdr on the Alpha forums a couple of nights ago trying to arrange tests, but I saw no feed back.

Also as I was typing this I got randomly attacked and I can confirm a boosting cobra with 2 pips in engines is faster than a missile ;p

In your video I was the last kill you got alpha backer #56120, :eek:was getting shot and panicked lol caught a glimps of you just before the missiles hit and finished me off :D

It is not a problem Sam glad I could be of help, just got to keep my eyes open when earning creds that way from now on.

Crikey! I can't help but feel that the Boost mechanics are way over the top. Nerf pls :p

Great research on the stealth aspects :cool:
