Community Goal Treasure Hunt

A quick message from Steve Kirby on an earlier thread, which has now been hidden, regarding the Treasure Hunt:

Hi folks,
Due to events out of my control it looks like you have had access to the Treasure Hunt earlier than was intended.
The CG will officially be going live later today.
Once the CG goes live, the first person to return the item will still win the prize. (Remember we will be checking to make sure all deliveries are above board)


We will also run a new total quantity version of the CG so that everyone can have the opportunity to solve the puzzle on their own.
So please do not post any spoilers on the forums, so that everyone can participate.

Just to clarify, it is fine to discuss theories in the forums, but please do not post spoilers.
The previous thread was removed as it contained spoilers. I know people have the option to ignore the thread, but I thought it best to close that thread and open a new one for discussing the treasure hunt.

So unless I have a correct theory - I can feel free to post it here? :D

Can I start treasure hunting now? Is everything is in place in the game? Had I won already - if I sold spoiler alert stuff to correct black market?

By spoiler do you mean the video I've posted? Or location of certain things?

unfortunately if i answer that question it would be a spoiler and i'd have to delete myself.

On a serious note: Can I start treasure hunting now? Is everything is in place in the game for it?
This is from a disappointed customer who started to participate in treasure hunt and then learned that it's not ready yet

The CG officially starts at 3pm all elements will be live from then on. You can participate now as the galnet article is out there giving you the first clue.

Do I need to go back to spolerplace to retrieve spoilerthing in order to participate or if I pick'd 'em up earlier I'm elegible (i.e. will I get a message or update if I go back or can I keep going forward?)

I've never participated in a treasure hunt before, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. Should I be looking for a specific station to get the CG mission or is it somewhere in Deep Space? Does the clue have to do with station names or is it something I would have to know from outside the game (i.e. astronomy)? Is there somewhere I can find a primer for this type of Community Goal?

The GalNet clue should lead you to a system / station that has a community goal. Or possibly a news post that leads to the community goal. Depends how many layers there are. The community goal will have a clue to the object's location.

And yes, station names, mythology, astronomy, astrology, etc will likely be used to figure out the location. The item will eventually be found in a persistent instance. Historically this has been a static USS, but no guarantees this time.

I think I found the first step, some "treasure" (found "where all frequencies of light reside"), but ... revealed as stolen in my cargo ! I encounter other commanders on the same spot, so I guess I was right or not alone to have the same false guess :)

now what next ...

Sae here, after getting the treasure, i tried many things but with no more clue i don't know where to go :/ I'm giving up and going to watch Star Wars, good luck with the hunt commanders

Perhaps I found the next step, but How to go so far from the place where all frequencies of light reside with a stolen merchandise ! said up ? up up far away up ? there is no Up in the space !

Never participated in one of these "riddles" but love reading the forums on how commanders are getting on, i dont really have enough time or they seem to start when i am busy but i really like the idea of them, gives something a little more interesting to do in the game. Good luck all you treasure hunters.

I have found the second clue, and as far as I can tell, there are no other CMDRs in the area. Those of you who already found a treasure are probably barking up the wrong tree.
