Was it one of the trailers we've already seen or something specially made for cinema?

I was surprised, it was unexpected but at the end it said available on : Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and pc , with pc one showing horizons edition.
Don`t know if it was specially made , but I felt a little bit proud seeing it ( stupid I know ).

Oh I would have loved to see that on the big screen. My session was full of almost 30mins of absolute rubbish trailers. No wonder everyone mainly downloads movies or waits for Blurays these days.

Excellent! I imagine it would be amazing with a cinema sound system.

It does. This is one game where the sound design still excels over the high range speakers, as well as being amazing in headphones. So much so so that if I use the rift and the surround I get a very grand sense of scale

Awesome news on the trailer that's some exposure right there. We'll done FDEV

Yes. Was super excited to see the Elite trailer in the cinema. Looked fabulous.

As far as I could tell it was all in game footage as well. Unlike most other games.

It said PS4? Can anyone else confirm?

We didn't see PS4 mentioned. Only PC & XB1

Yes and if not pretty close.

Gotta say well done FD.

As far as I could tell, it was a cut down version of the original launch trailer for a year ago. (The one with the Royal Blood soundtrack)

It had the non in-game pilots entering the hanger and then some gameplay footage. It also had a slightly cheesy American voice over. Still nice to see.

The planets looked just as good. Wanted to play Elite on the big cinema screen :)

I can confirm that E: D on a (home) cinema screen (2.8m x 1.6m) with 7.1 cinema surround is in fact awesome. :)The only thing to make it more awesome would be VR, but I'm holding out for the Vive...

I'm seeing Star Wars tomorrow. I hope I see the E: D trailer too.

Although I like the drama in the ED trailers I find their 'artistic licence' a little harder to stomach.

The trailers have so very little resemblance to the actual game play that it is bordering on a trade description violation in my opinion.

I saw the trailer, it must have cost a fortune to screen. I'd much rather they'd spent the money adding some content to the game to be honest.

Indeed. It's almost as if the marketing department are trying to sell a different game, or just CQC.

Indeed again. I wonder how many people who pick up the game on the back of the Star Wars advert will still be playing on 6 months (or even a couple of weeks) after realising how badly the game they just bought has been misrepresented. And how many programmer hours could have been bought with that cash instead?

Seriously?

Commanders,

(1) the people who make the vids are a dept in FD who are not coding specials, but video makers.
No new content were harmed in the making of this film.

(2) This is a picture of an airfix model;
Airfix is a toy (a 'model') and Elite Dangerous is a 'game' (a model of the galaxy);

THIS is what you get inside an airfix box ...

And this is the box ...

Sorry Cmdrs, but saying such things (about product description) is akin to;

Dear Airfix,

Having recently purchased, your box clearly shows a picture of rocket being fired from the model airplane included inside. However, having assembled the kit, I discovered that what you have sold me is in fact NOT A REAL PLANE!?

Yours in disgust,
Watto, Tattooine.

The videos are a representation, of some of the things you can already do in the game, and a glimpse of plans for the future. They also provide "context" for the game.

Here's one ..

Can someone get me a link already!?

What an excellent PR stunt.

What if this trailer is NEVER made available on the internet but stays a cinema exclusive!?
Will this break the interwebs?
