Well ****** me! I have just worked out why menu system wasn't working for me in the side panels! I didn't realise that the key to cycle through the menu options was Q and E But instead I have been using the left and right keys for which controls the options within the menus
It was just my misunderstanding what they meant by "cycle to next panel or cycle to previous panel" meant. I assumed it meant cycle through the various side panels so target panel, systems panel, radar panel

It was just a misunderstanding of terminology so I'm all sorted now for the rest of the game!

As I saidIn a previous post you guys had been awesome Trying to resolve my issues and I wouldn't have been able to do without you.

Anyway this thread can now be closed and laid to rest!

Thanks again to anyone who has posted in here!

if it's any consolation I still make the same mistake even having set my keys myself, it's automatic to try and use the cursor keys there too. Probably would be an idea to let us do that.

Glad to hear you've sorted it Excalibur. I will look forward to seeing you in game.

And as for the other matter. Thanks everyone for looking after the forum and its posters.

Consider the matter closed.

Yes my painful experience is that when it comes to configuration it is often dogged trial and error that sees you through.

See you in the verse (errr wrong game)

If you have an OEM machine and fancy a reinstall, there may be other options open to you.

Slmgr.vbs is your friend - sometimes OEM's put the wrong sticker on your machine, and you can reinstall to the version you are properly licensed for :)

The Home Premium version doesn't let you switch languages on the fly, so reinstalling with an English setting instead of my local indeed seems the only option if I want it working. Will consider if it's worth it. (I'm not disabled, but I can see value in the feature for various things, including Elite and other games).

Yes for Windows 7 in order to incorporate certain languages you need to download the appropriate language pack and you have to have Windows 7 enterprise or ultimate Win 7 home premium won't cut it.

Just discovered that on Windows 8.1 language packs seem to be free. I just put Cyrillics on my Win RT slab no problem. What's great is that they have a button on the keyboard to switch between languages. I would have liked it to be a toggle button but the kind of combo button is very good. Maybe next MS will make it a toggle.

WinUpdate won't offer you any lang packs if you don't hold the right l license.

http://www.froggie.sk/7lp64sp1.html seems to host actual KBs however. I just downloaded one and it was a genuine Lang pack.

Sorry if you have tried all this.
So I tried this even though the site states HPE isn't supported, and it works! I'm running through the Windows speech recognition tutorial right now, so I'm very happy! So thanks!

The tutorial is rather infuriating so far as it sucks at reecognizing my voice. Especially "next" it refuses to understand until I've said it like 20 times. i've found if I really struggle with a task, I just repeat it with an Arnold accent and it usually instantly works. For example after saying "scroll down" about 30 times I instead said "arghh scraol daown!" and it immediately scrolled down. This made me laugh uncontrollably for about 1 minute, the act of which somehow completed the following 3-4 tasks!

Fantastic news Excalibur, we're so glad to hear that. Fantastic !!!! We're all very happy to help.
I was looking at getting voice attack myself and was going through Flack's amazing guide which I am sure you have probably already seen.

Glad it's working, after a fashion :)

It reminds me of a car I once had. A Japanese car that seemed to have American voice recognition. The satnav\bluetooth phone unit in the car was so poor that I had to dial out from the phone and then transfer voice and speech to the in-car unit by saying 'transfer'. But I had to say 'transfer' with an American twang and of course, half the time it would not work. So whoever was on the line by then would hear me saying transfer, over and over in an American accent and getting REALLY cheesed off, eventually shouting, "TRANSFER!!" at it furiously.

Hi guys, I've got a problem with the menu scrolls with VA and I don't know if it's a bug or stupidity on my part.

The menus work fine with VA except in the station when I'm about to land. I've got a voice command that turns on the ship lights and deploys the landing gear, which happens no problem. However, once activated, the horizontal thrusters stop working. This makes lining up a little more tricky.

Should I send a ticket or am I doing something wrong? :S
