Not important. Steam is the majority of the player base.
Is that people who bought the game through Steam, or those that bought direct from FD and then added a Steam key?

Oh sorry, you and the two dozen other non-experts in the field. I actually don't know jack about games sales, I just get bored of reading threads on here whilst trying to enjoy the game yet have your name and a few other usual suspects turning up whenever there's a chance to run the game down. It's your prerogative of course, but you should know you come across as a right bore.

It is no brainer: existing customers think that the horizons is too expensive, and it`s showing. They are voting with their wallets.
Those with expansion passes dont have to buy either.

It really makes me chuckle when I see black knights trying to put a false slant on figures that are picked off the best cherry tree that fits their preconceived and ill informed opinions with the only proof that Steam is the best source of proof.
I am not sure what the real sales of ED are other than the annual financial report for 2014-2015 shows total sales of 850,000+. I don't really see that as a game that is tanking to be honest. We are a niche game and are seeing steady growth and I didn't cherry pick these figures they are available at this link.

I would suggest that if anyone wishes to make such statements as the one made by the OP they do some in depth research first before coming to the forums with disaster movie type headings.
Oh yes and although the figures were supplied by Frontier they were signed off on by respectable auditors not by some one on steam collating figures that are then misrepresented to enhance someone's ill formed opinions.
You're always so glib to criticism Barking
There was a sizeable number of players unhappy with the model, unhappy with the price and unhappy with what was being shown posting all over the forum. Whether or not FD should listen to them though, that's another question entirely.
OP - trying to introduce the 'streisand effect'. -- Please, if it's not constructive and accurate zip on over to Reddit and crack on till your eyes pop outa ya head.
FD are doing very well thank you, will continue to do so and will hopefully ignore post like yours intent on spieling inaccurate and conjecture based theories.
Hyperbolic post is hyperbole.Only 21k sold on Steam after 5 days and it has even dropped out of the top 10 sellers. The original elite dangerous was a number 1 top seller for a couple of weeks!
I think its safe to say that what frontier tried to pull simply did not work for many factors that have already been discussed to death. The question now is: What went so wrong within frontier and what's next?
The situation I feel is so dire that something drastic needs to happen before everyone is off on holidays. Plenty of developers have apologised, made drastic changes in the past without even being in such terrible position that Frontier is at the moment.
Base game:

Different circles. ED passed a million sales recently Including Mac and XB1. Steam has the Lion's share. If Horizons isn't selling well on Steam, there's a problem.
On top of that we really don't even know what we would pay for. A season 2 roadmap is desperately needed for this to blow over.
I pre-ordered it and just added the launcher as a non-steam game because i like the easy screenshots and the overlay .-.Consider the 'dark number' of people like me who ordered Horizons off the FD store and never added it to Steam.
