So, anyone seen one of these before?

Maybe under the right conditions a ua can become a large barnacle. Find the right planet in terms lf temperature, sun exposure, or planet type. Plant a ua and water it with hope so it blooms into a magical barnacle.

It may be that we arent finding the barnacles because we are supposed to grow them from a ua.

(/removes tinfoil)
Or fd hasnt implemented them yet/there is only 1 in the entire game at the moment.

Side note does a ua look the same on the ground on all planets?

Okay I have a little theory which I'd like to share.. Not sure if people have actually checked this out, its too much for me to do alone and far too time consuming.

Back in the DDF there was reference to Dark systems.. I've always wondered about the interesting descriptions of certain systems surrounding the founders world. One is apparently hiding a 'dark' secret. I've been searching and researching things, which generally involves trying to get into the minds of David and Michael. This could be a total dead end but I'm wondering if its possible to mis-jump in game.

There are a few things which could be seen as clues such as the lost Federation ship, and note.. a drive malfunction was understood to be responsible. What do the UA's do? They degrade our ships systems. So since this is now my only sort of pursuit in game I went and picked up a load. So with my ship getting worse and worse I decided to go to a station and dock, by the time I got there things were quite bad and half my ship was broken.. Stuff started falling out of my hold, I was close to a station, and guess what.. I had a FSD malfunction and it was trying to jump me somewhere - at the time I had reached my destination so didnt have anywhere targeted for jump. Unfortunately I was too close to the station and it mass locked me.

I think this might be something worth investigating further. What do you think?

Today, I have been exploring the Coalsack Nebula all day.
There are 11 systems with landable planets.

Planets in "Musca Dark Region HM-V c2-37" looks very promising.

I also checked angles of SRV accelerators at different gravitation force.

Also here's how planet may change color inside the nebula, depending on the light level.

Absolutely!

After I do my rim-ward loop, I was thinking of searching the Dark Regions between Civilized space and the Galactic core, because I swear some of those were not there prior 1.5/Horizons. That or they were made to be more visible in the galactic map.

Given that we've been specifically told that FSD mis-jumps are not in the game, I'm... skeptical.

I know this was tried in the past, but since 2.0, has anyone done any extensive testing by shooting the UA with different weapons? Including those that have been modified with materials? Those "limbs" look an a lot like a canister. Maybe the head of the UA is the "barnacle" and the "limbs" are meta-alloys. Perhaps there's a way to pop those off with the right weapon combination.

The UAs are quite obviously phage like.. If we read stuff about the meta-alloys its all the more convincing.

If you search the threads for "mis-jump" you'll find a comment from MB stating they are not jet implemented in game.
Before that, some CMDRs tried so much everything to induce a misjump with UA in hold.
That said, we don't know if they now implemented it in 2.0
I'm skeptical as well, but you can try to reproduce the issue very easily: just repair everything but the FSD. ;)

Great job! and beautiful shots!

I thought about dark nebulae, because they are much denser than others (at least I think so) and we've seen these barnacles grow on some dark misty surfaces. And the Coalsack Nebulae specifically, because it's the closest one iirc

Did you think same way?

PS: if you were inspired to go there by my post, then I must tell I never expected my backseat driving techniques were so good :p

Aside from FSD mis-jump which it seems safe to assume can't happen yet, the Dark System reference did get my interest. I'm currently moving out from the Fine Ring over through a number of these dark sectors on my way around and there's a pattern that I haven't been able to break yet, there are no systems I've found within any of these sectors, closest is always outside of the actual cloud. The Coalsack Nebula had a few systems inside and is kind of dark, but the actual dark sectors seem very true to their name. I 'd guess if we can find one that actually contains a system somehow then it may be worth looking at. Regardless I'm scouting the nearby systems as I go, but nothing interesting yet. I also feel I may be perhaps a little too far from Merope at this point, even if it's a relatively short journey in the grand scheme.

been building my material stocks up and investigating where to find various materials, some still elude me but building a better perspective of the variety of deposits.

Curious thing , they all have unique sensor signatures and most of all , Unique sounds from the sensor, easier to identify the likely find far before you find it visually.
I will continue to gather more info until i have a wider range of signals and sounds.

These meta-Alloys surely must be the green growing crystal things from the horizons trailer or something to do with them. Should they be found it would be useful to make note of the signal type on the sensor and also the sound emitted from the sensor.
Curious read on the item description of meta alloys in commodities market.

Edit : I wonder if the MetaAlloy mission is a lead or more a distraction .... Remember when Painite was introduced ? It was hard to locate but the value of that rare mineral along with find Painite missions but eventually was found.
The mission had no relation to locations where to mine it, they just spawn in Industrial and High tech systems. Makes me think the Meta-Alloy will be similar.
