I am posting this outside the Horizons thread as obviously the results would be more skewed by posting it in there as people in that thread are more likely to have purchased it.
I am wondering what sort of uptake there is of Horizons among original player base and the reason you have or have not purchased.

No, and dont plan to as long as FD continues its current approach. I have a real issue with FD's marketing strategy and direction.........The obvious cash-grab and diming can only hurt FD's future prospects. Maybe thats what they plan to do, gouge the players until its dry then close up shop? I dont know but it IS a strange direction.

I did, because they offered a discount for prepurchasing. The beta players streamed enough videos of it to help me decide whether or not I would like it, so I felt like I was making an informed decision. I would not have paid "full price" (imo, the discounted price is full price, anything over is just gouging) for the game, since 80 cad is just ridiculous.

May I ask how?

Lifetime Expansion Pass - maybe Alpha/(Premuim)Beta Backer/KS special pledge level...

that Pass might be available again - who knows when - in the store, so keep your eyes open, its a bargain, almost armed robbery :D

also voted YES, and happy with it. despite i paid €0 per-se for it (premium beta backer hehe)

I had decided I wasn't going to bother with it initially, and wait and see how things developed over this season.

However, the Mrs. scuppered those plans and pre-ordered it for me :p

I did pre-order when it came up because I falsely assumed FD and AMD would have sorted out that nasty gamestopper bug. Quite obviously not on the priority list. In fact AMD had to be reminded to put it back on the list with the latest release because they 'forgot' Elite. Naturally you forget the one with the nastiest bug on the list. Happens to all of us...I shouldn't have bought it really because voting with your wallet is the best vote.

So for a while I was parking in a system with res sites and CZ to at least somewhat play the game. But right now I'm out of the bubble so I don't get contacts in SC. I'm trying exploring for a while. I like how Horizons is implemented. Since I can't really play it I'm keeping back with a verdict. Considering that they haven't touched missions much (aside from more options and somewhat awkward chain missions) I'd say it's getting the same as usual just more of it pretty soon. But like I said. Can't really play it the way it's meant to be.

I don't think you know how game development works at all.

Yes. I got my bottom kicked at a violent protest several times tonight so to wind down I landed on a massive alien mountain and watched the sun go down, then I went for a drive through a gassy canyon on a very odd world.

Its been a good evening.

That resonates with me as well :)

The lack of things to do on planets (and in general I suppose) and lack of NPC multi-crew are ill omens for me. And if the more recent updates are any indication (1.5, cqc, to a lesser extent PP) I am tentative about the future. I bought Horizons before the lack of NPC multi-crew was announced. Had I known that I may have held of on buying it. It is enjoyable to look at though.

Not yet (for reasons other than above).
1. Will wait for it to come out on Steam (not the early release but the full, real thing).
2. I figure by that time a number of those bugs you hear about will be addressed. No sane person buys 1.0 software. :)

I did the same thing for ED (it came out Dec 14 2014 but I waited until the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) to finally get it. I'm patient. I'm still going through the list of rare items to get and sell somewhere far away = profit.

Nope. After watching bunch of videos (ObsidianAnt, thanks for good job!), and reading reviews from my trusted sources, I came to conclusion that it's simply not worth it. Yet.

I am not in a rush.
