Was not sure if this would fit best in sugestions, ships, or here

So I went with this section. But is there a leading theory about why there are no ships around mid level to top level that are OCD Friendly?

I might be one of few but i cant help to be annoyed at sitting towards the left or right in a ship and have window panes make the view area missfitting, and not symetrical as you see you sort of sit towards one side of the ship.

am i the only one who wishes there where more single or mid seated ships that would not make the OCD trigger making me want to rearrange the ships cockpit?

I don't find it to be an issue. It's just a design choice. People drive cars on the left or right side in the real world, you don't see many cars with the seat in the middle.

I'd have nothing against adding more ships though, no matter where the seats are.

Well, there are:
Every lakon ship for starters.
Then the core dynamics ships including the federal x-ship series
And the anaconda is central too, as is the corvette i believe.

It's in general a bad design choice though. Space ships can't be compared to cars. Cars need to drive on roads and follow traffic rules and most importantly need to be able to judge their position on the road because of oncoming traffic.
None of this is the case for space ships. These have to follow rules of planes. Combat planes (fighters) never have off center pilot seats, since strong maneuvers (roll) will add a whole lot of additional forces on the pilot and aiming becomes a lot more difficult.
The only place where 2 seats next to each other make sense are planes which never engage in strong maneuvers (passenger/transport/general civilian).

And thats where the problem comes from. Elite follows this rule fairly well (except for e.g. the FDL which is plain stupid), rather we are the problem. We use general purpose ships as combat ships, effectively using civilian planes for dogfighting.
However I have to agree that, since most ships are more or less built for combat, you would expect people from the future to be smart enough to design all ships with this in mind.

I currently have a DBS and love it for this, but i want to upgrade eventually to a mid ship around 10-15 million that doesnt handle like a snail and or bite like one, a good fairly manouverable utility ship that does stuff ok, a bit like the asp explorer.

the federal ships are kinda cool and i do wish and likely will aim at a federal assault for this reason

any ship above 100 mill is high end, i barely make 1-2 milli pr day still hehe

Ships with off centred cockpits are painful to me.
Let's have more ships with centred cockpits and the option to rearrange the seats.

I would've liked the FDL more, if it wouldn't be for the off centric cockpit.

I don't mind if the seat is offset to the left as that's what I'm used to from driving a car.

If it's to the right it's a strong deterrent to fly the respective ship though. Certainly one of the reasons I don't like flying the Clipper and FdL. Oddly enough I don't mind it as much in the Cutter - might be due to the fact that I purely use it for trading and hence don't look around nearly as much as in a ship I use for combat (VR user). The middle console and the fact that it's a money-printing machine helps alleviating the pain too, I guess ;).

But I agree - there should be more ships with centred seats and an option to pick the seat would be nice, but I won't hold my breath.

My OCD extends far beyond the cockpit being centered or not though :p

In order to feel happy within the game my ship has to:
-Have a good looking/centered cockpit
-Be a light small/medium'ish size max ( I don't like large ships one bit )
-Made by Gutamaya (aka it needs to be white/blue)

Don't ask why, I don't know.

So basically I can only fly an ieagle or courier :p
Suits me though but still wish there was more Gutamaya ships out there..

That or FD finally realizes the cockpit is all we see 99% of the time and we could really use COCKPIT PAINTJOBS, not HULL PAINTJOBS.
Now that I would pay dollars for.

Frankly I think we need more blatantly asymmetric ships tbh.

where's my YT-1300 dammit?
