I will not be taking heat sinks, but will take some AFMU's. As for the SRV's they are hard to destroy, I rolled one on purpose going flat out and still only lost 5% hull. My advice is patience, the quicker you try and do things the more likely you are to make mistakes. Distant Worlds is not a race. Oh, and don't fly or drive bladdered. Rule 1, always assume the next jump is into a binary or a neutron so hit the zero speed whilst jumping, most of you know this already, but there will be some of the 300+ who will try and race it, which is fine, until you come a cropper.

A heat sink launcher will cost you about .12LY in jump range, and gives you four uses...
So if you don't take one, and bide by your advice and always stop in a new system, what's the worse that could happen overheating wise?

I don't know how likely that actually is - I've had some binaries like that where I was dumped out of supercruise shortly after arrival, and the escape vector to get back into FSD took me very close to the second star, so I really was baking, both while the FSD was charging and for the first few seconds afterwards as I accelerated away.

Registered commanders are encouraged to add fellow fleet members who are within your time zone to your in-game friends list at some point. This helps with instancing and will also enhance the social aspect of the expedition.

I got into hat situation once in 230k+ LY - I'm not actually sure how much damage I took, because it seemed like I took none, but my heat got to about 120% before I go out. You can see where you end up as you drop in, because you'll see the stars zoom towards you. This situational awareness (assuming you were watching...) means you should have a fairly good idea s to which way to point the ship to get out.
If you did not pay attention when dropping it, you'd be pretty screwed....

Most have, at least judging by the number of friend requests I have been getting. It would be good to see where you are and see if you are straggling.
I have just 4 friends requests. The miserable so-and-so friendless explorer persona seems to be working well.

When I've encountered excessive heat from these sort of situations -It's was scary due to the figures shown (eg: 200% heat) and sparks and the like, but the outcome is only a minor amount of (module) damage. I think I'll give heat sinks a miss which means another 0.12ly jump range taking my Asp, fully ladened, upto 33.97LY...

Personally if I can get enough money for the Anaconda in time I will play it safe. (A lil bit lower jump range then I could get) but as I'm inexperienced with that ship and it's so large I think I'm better off taking the save options. If I end up leaving in my ASP I will take a little more risk.
I personally wouldn't get rid of the boost ability either.. already saved me a view times when approaching a planet.
I wonder if boosting can also get you out of situations with high G where your ship can be stalling.

On a side note, found 2 Yttrium (in Outcrops) on V2151 Cygni B3. Now have 12 J1, 8 J2 and 2 J3's. Gathering materials is now for the time being, thankfully over![]()
