Nerf the FGS please! (or is this just a bug :p)

MODS: if you read this, can you change the title to 'possible bug with FGS handling in SC', people seem to be taking the N-word a bit too seriously. :)

I bought my FGS in 1.4, and started outfitting it in preparation of planetary landings. Before 2.0 I flew it for probably less than an hour. Not much, but I'm pretty sure I would have remembered its performance in SC: its agile. As in: really, absurdly, massively agile in 2.0. I just timed it: its roll is twice as fast as the roll of my light-weight DBS. Its so fast it feels very strange and weird, not 'what a well-designed ship' agile, but 'someone placed a decimal point in the wrong place' agile. It makes interdictions very odd, as where in the past you sometimes had to fight to get the target back in sight now I can just point straight at it no matter what it does. So my two questions:

1) If you have flown a FGS, do you notice the same incredible agility?
2) If yes to the previous question (or if you have no experience, assuming my experience is correct): does this seem like an intended strength of the FGS or does it feel 'off'?

Why do you have to ask to nerf nearly everything? I mean, it's working, right? It's not like it is breaking your game or something.

Actually, the first time I flew it in SC I thought there was something wrong with my stick and I was cheating by accident. Have you flown it? It somnewhat feels as if you suddenly notice a few extra huge hardpoints on your ship. Handy, sure. But if this is either a bug in the game or corrupted data in my save I would like to bring it to attention. If everyone has it, I'll file a bug report. Else I'll ticket it.

Yeah Nerf it ...tis the season it seems. But then again Xmas for some like ED is all year around.

So go right ahead and nerf it i say.

If you perceive it as incorrect, wouldn't a bug report be more apt than just another cry for nerfing something. I am sure your heart is in the right place, but the term nerf gets thrown around far too much and should be reserved for truly unbalanced (and intended) design.

Did one give you a bloody nose in PVP???

Does it still handle like a cast-iron bathtub in realspace?
You bet! Which makes it all the weirder when you jump to SC and it becomes SuperEagle of steroids.

I thought the title would give away the 'nerf' part was used ironically. I guess that didn't go according to plan. :p What I am interested in is if this really is a general bug, surely someone else must have noticed it then? If I'm just the first to post it but others have it as well I'll file a bug report. If everybody has the usual SC performance I'd rather send a ticket.

Yeah, thats totally it. You got me.

When I flew a FGS, and it wasn't for long, I didn;t notice anything like that. I dumped it because it was a brick, and I hate class 1 weapons. This sounds more like the Agility levels between SC and regular space are different. Maybe you should report it as a bug.

So.. Is it fun to fly? Then, what is wrong with it? Or we not allowed to have fun in Elite?

You're nuts. There are some really fun ships to fly out there. The Vulture and the FAS come readily to mind. I don;t know what you are flying but, maybe it's time for a change.

I considered that might be the case, but perhaps I am so gun shy now by the barrage of "nerf this" posts lately, that I missed it when I replied.

Thanks. Did you fly it in 2.0/1.5 or in 1.4?

good god the fanboy-ism in regard to feeling like "nerfing" is a negative connotation... Maybe we wouldn't have to ask for nerfs on everything if FDEV paid attention to balance. Its taken them a year to work out how the SCBs work, how hull damage and sub system damage functions and how the overheating mechanic even ties into normal gameplay. Balancing isn't something made up by certain players, its real and exists, in all games, to promote good gameplay...

The ONLY meta game in ED is to get the biggest and most expensive ship. The ships are front and center as the reward you receive when playing(sinking 1000 hours, grinding within the same shallow framework). If a large ship handles like an eagle (even if its in a non-combat situation) its unacceptable for the game to function in this way.

Yeah, I noticed that too. In fact I noticed it was behaving like that in beta testing Horizons. It was very strange. It would turn on a dime in SC, but was a real moose in standard flight. I was going to report it but then forgot all about it as I wanted to jump into some of the new ships and test them out. Glad you mentioned it here. Yeah, it must be a bug... somebody put a decimal point in the wrong place. I like the ship a lot, but it's certainly not as intended with that characteristic in SC.

It is just happens, that some of the ships I considered a really fun to fly had been nerfed to the ground (I still expect FAS to be nerfed, just because it so fun to fly :( ), but I still use some of the netf hammered ships, simply with much lesser joy than it used to be. So, when I see another NERF IT tread, I might overreact a little. I would prefer treads like "boost them all!", if someone thinks that something is "overpowered" :)

Noticed this in 2.0 Beta. Best handling in supercruise out of all the ships hands down. It did seem pretty odd at first, but than I began to think that maybe it was intentional. The Federal Gunship makes for an incredible interdiction vessel now. When used in a team oriented fashion it could play an important support role. With that being said, knowing Frontier, and the fact that it actually provides the ship with some sort of fun factor leads me to believe it is indeed a bug. It would be best to let this thread sail on into the abyss.

At this point the only thing that needs nerfing in this game is the nerfing... ;)
