UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Hey Guys, I'm pretty much a lurker on the Canonn threads but I love what you've done.

I'm hauling away at the CG to bring the evacuation shelters to Dahan.

Do we think this is helpful? I hope so...

For anomalies in your area... From the surface of Pleione 4. It's probably a bug, but still looks impressive...

[EDIT]: If it wasn't for the horrible compression on upload...

If you mean the chunk taken out of the ring, it's the shadow of the planet. So it's not a bug, except that maybe the nebula/galaxy/stars behind the shadowed bit of ring should be a bit dimmer (though I'm not sure about that).

Great pic though!

Yes, The Canonn is officially supporting Palin's CG. So please, haul away!

So, I wonder what would've happened to Obsidian Orbital didn't get a black market reward tier... assuming of course that selling UAs causes these issues ;)

Previosly mb has prev said the UA degrading and ultimate destruction is a feature of the device.

The ua does not do this when jettisoned from and srv. Is this another feature, or an inconsistency?

Finishes 31 December 3301 15:00 UTC.

Thanks for checking Kicks. Too late for me as I suspected. I'm not back until Jan 2nd.

Oh well... The upside is that I'll be able to try out my first planetary landing straight away. Really itching to do that!

I sold 1 there so you can blame me if you like.

You can make good again if you add California Sector HW-W C1-7 and LHS 3006 to your UA shell 3D plot.
If you draw lines from California Sector HW-W C1-7 to LHS 3006 and from California Sector HW-W C1-7 to Merope, you will be promoted.

Been re-watching the Horizons launch trailer for some 'clues'

It appears to be a story in the video - of two explorers travelling across an inhabited planet.

They land....
Drving Away.png
They drive off into the distance with the red/orange sun getting further behind them....
Neb.jpg
They come across a settlement (notice the nebula in the background)
T9.jpg

They come across a crashed T9 (Still getting darker)
AI.jpg
It gets pitch black and one of them comes across the 'Large barnacles/barnicles' (LBs)
Escape.jpg
Then suddenly they are tanking it away with the cobras and the corvette behind them (I'm guessing to pick them up). The way the vehicle slammed down to the ground could suggest a High G world? Meta alloys suggests it should be a high meta content world.

Could these be clues to locations - inhabited space, the sun type, the surface type, the nebula?

Worth checking?

Nice. Could be.
But the nebula seems to be just the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC)

Surely that gives a reference point though. It's actually a binary system with an orange and blue/white star - it appears later in the video.

I think that's a big, breaking problem with this "mystery."

Every time anyone discovers anything that might be relevant, we have to stop and ask the Dev team if it's a bug or intentional.

Well, when we get a response it confirms they are still there & haven't been slaughtered by rogue Thargoids (or Pirates) :D

I've come with a theory, but I'm unsure if it is feasible because I don't know what type of malfunctions in stations does cause the "technical issues" reported. If the "technical issues" does not cause the bulletin board to go down and one can still obtain/finish missions from these stations, could be possible that the "Strange Alloys" mission that is asking for Meta-Alloys is obtained from the "infected" stations and finishing the mission (delivering the Meta-Alloys) puts and end to the technical issues?

Other theory I've come with is that could be even possible that those organic structures "similar to barnacles" are growing in planets within the system of the damaged stations, and be the real cause of the technical issues. Maybe they are alien emitters that causes interferences in station systems. Perharps for Frontier selling UAs to the black market is just a flag for them to know that experiments with UAs are being conducted in that system and those experiments causes some spores to be liberated into planets...

Anyway, I agree with the lack of any link between UA and the whole "barnacles"/"Meta-Alloys" so far. These theories try to link one with another, just to add something to the stew. Those two theories I've just stated are not difficult to check, though. For the first one we just need to check if bulletin board is closed or is still accesible and if it is, spend some time trying to spawn the "Strange Alloys" mission. For the second one we need to check if stations reporting malfunctions have landable planets in their systems, and if so, spend some time chasing POIs. I'll give a try to both when I log in to the game later.

Something that annoys me is that obsidian orbital is now also malfunctioning ! This is just soooo unfair ! Do you know how much time I spent mining palladium and looking for metals and computer components ?! And now some commanders thought hey let's make some money by selling UA at obsid orbital ! And now here is the result !

Well, it could be FD telling us to get on with finding the cure. I haven't had any response to my post about using some of the new (in 2.0) commodoties to see if they do the trick, so I assume everybody's too busy off searching for Barnacles
