Update Unofficial Alpha news for beta backers

As I remember it peeps using wireless in their LAN had to make sure IPv4 in their wireless drivers was deselected in order for it all to be stable.

did you mean to put IPV6 ?

They would need IPV4 if they wanted to use the wireless, where as I know that having IPV6 as well as V4 selected causes strange issues, notably DNS problems.

(unless of course someone is running a V6 network at home)

Got it the wrong way round, Yes you're right they needed to disable IPv6 and use IPv4 until the code was fixed to account for it.

EDIT: Dunno if peeps can get to it without having to log into their forum but the thread about it is here.

Copy of the content of the above link;

Based on a thread/convo between Kyp and players, we suspect the implementation of Microsoft's "prefer IP6 over IP4" mechanism in Windows 7+ being the cause for some players having connection issues when gating/docking.

If you dont need IP6 as of yet (if you dont know what it is, you prolly dont need it) follow this guide to disable it and see if it helps your connection problems.

If you are experiencing other things suddenly not working in the internal network anymore (because they are maybe using IP6), simply revert these steps.

.../snipped guff

Short update
Michael confirmed today that 3.03 is in order, but there's no ETA, because they want to have some solid bunch of fixes for networking problems before releasing it. That most likely mean 3.03 for end of the next week.

As far as I understand, work is ongoing in parallel for 4.0, so we won't have to wait that long for it.

I'm starting to get an itchy trigger finger #bringonfirstroundbeta :p

thanks for the update.

This just in for the weekend

Elite: Dangerous Alpha 3.3 is now available and as always thanks for everyone’s feedback and reports on the previous release, it’s helped us identify a number of issues that we’ve spent the last week busy hard at work, working through them. It’s still not perfect, but it is better. We’ve addressed a lot of the issues that were causing the common symptoms for multiplayer experience and stability, enough that we’re now ready for you all to hammer the build again to see what has improved for you and to isolate remaining problems. Please make sure to report any issues through the tickets raised in the launcher and feel free to post your experiences in this thread.

Looks like this patch is network fixes, hopefully to add stability and cut down on stuff like pad switching during docking and vanishing space stations.

Aw, sometimes the vanishing space station was good. Last night I took off from the pad and the station vanished. That meant I could hyperspace right away:D

Update: station stills vanishes

There's already the "Frontier Developers Log" thread stickied in this forum and today's update was posted there before it was posted in this thread.

true, but isn't that a locked thread? nothing wrong with having this thread for discussion purposes for non alphas? :)

Shuttle pods

Not sure If anyone else has posted this already. I like the little shuttle pods you can see in the space station hanger, but they're all moving round at a uniform rate and distance, how would anyone get on and off them , not v realistic, Can they be more randomised? Just asking.

This is direct quote. I will keep updating this, so no worries :)

I just came looking for this thread to update it with the alpha 3.4 news - forums are busy for this to have slipped to page two within the day. :p

thanks Pecisk for the update. is there any fix log that indicates the bugs that have been fixed in this build - apart from the aforementioned station disappearances? ta
