Horizons Please Frontier - we need Poi like this ( No Man's Sky )

I do not want to insult you, but it seems to me that you want the search part of POI's removed? so you just find all of them instantly?

no like this but at least approx visible POIs from space...some sort of Poi scanner :D
I don't have problem even with blue circle scanner at 2 km, i have problem with POIs disappears after i have landed in front of them - after reentering the game POIs just disappeared. Is this by design?

Well, i was actually expecting something similar, not exactly like that, something similar to what we have now, but from orbital cruise, and reasonably rare pois on the surface.

I was quite disapointed to see the slow normal flight scan, with random pois wherever you are

Just wanted to note how un-fun that game will be, when players won't have to find things by walking around for hours :D it's almost like they'll have other things to do in that game!

I find ED's policy of doing-things-manually-instead-of-making-hi-tech-futuristics-mahines-do-it-for-us much more insulting.

is it just me or does NMS look cartoony and basic graphically?
The graphic style is very different from a lot of other space games yes, though that said from the examples I've seen it can change a lot depending on planet.

NMS is meant to be entirely focused on fun, with only a nod to realism. And that's not a bad thing, different style of game.

Hi tech futuristic, what? being able to detect everything on a planet with one 'beep'?

Believe it or not, detecting something planet sized in a solar system is actually quite fairly easy, detecting a single spot on such planets that might hold something of interest? that's is a whole other thing.
One is detecting something in a space containing near nothing, the other is containing something specific amongst a whole lot of something.

So yeah, what kind of thing would you enjoy? and what do you mean "manually" precious few things are done manually in the game, unless you are referring to supercruise?

Imho POIs in Horizon are embarrassment - a whole mining field of cca 20 Palladium canisters protected by heavy defence just disappeared in front of my face after reentering the game.:eek: This is insane. Is this by design?

Yes. When you reload the instance is recreated. Anyway, if you ask me the devs themselves are not fully pleased with the release. Else I dont see why they would call it Early Access and not request reviews. My guess is that the fairly late transition to 64b and some other problems they ran into at a fairly late stage prevented them from doing some of the things they were planning to do. According to FD, Early Access will end 'early 2016', so I'm very interested in 2.1. :)

Thanx for info Sleutelbos, so hopefully that Pois issues will be resolved. I was so thrilled to encounter mining field with Palladium (after pew pew with heavy defence ) but i close the game after pew pew ( other stuff reason )...and after 1 hour was happy to collect that Palladium, but nope, it's a ghost planet :D

You mean the "inception" beep? ;)

I dont know if you were in the beta, but POIs were one of the most discussed topics. Initially they wouldn't show up at all while in a ship. The idea was to make us use the SRV to explore and scout. The problem was you'd land, enter the SRV and an entire building would suddenly spawn 10m in front of you. Or inside your ship. So it was changed, and all became visible from the ship. They then tweaked it down again, making some POIs visible and changing the scanner on your ship. Clearly its WIP and how it will go from here probably depends on what they are planning to do with the planets, gameplay wise. Optimisations carried on right till the last day, with the earliest betas being near unplayable for some. Some other WIPs turned out great though: Glide mode was pretty much added at the last minute and turned out to be great.

Horizons is a massive undertaking, and they succeeded in finishing the core gameplay in a stable and pretty well-running manner for the deadline release. But it was obviously a 'phew, we just made it' kinda situation, with zero time left for polishing and fleshing gameplay out. :)

Building and mining areas should be permanent with a scattering of random onespecially liked crashed ships and canisters etc. as well.

@Sleutelbos: yes i was in beta, i have even made some graphic concepts and suggestions about Pois. I remember that thread. But now i finally have some time to play Horizons actually. and...well, i will wait. But when i saw NMS with Poi system. ah. polishing polishing polishing :):D

Hrm, yes, was the game actually playable when that there existed?

Well, the page says "Old UI concept for the exploration surveyor in #Elite:dangerous", and all images are just drawn over the same screenshot.

The problem is, that people bought the game after seeing this concept... And now NMS will actually have it, while ED has some stupid fading blue circles :-\
