Yay! Finallly saw a NPC Cutter tonight!

I was staring to think those things were an myth or something. Huge, well armed beasts, forged in Imperial fire. Slow to turn, but quick to devour over 700 tons of Imperial Slaves. Capable of annihilating trade routes at will.

I was flying out of a station and I saw a Clipper flying in, but it looked.....odd.

That's no Clipper. That's a Cutter! Look at the size of that thing! I'm getting a close look at this thing.....urm, its a bit close! WHOA!

And the Cutter just clipped me on my way out. Probably as punishment for merely looking at it.

I have faced the beast from Gutamaya. I live to tell the tale. One day, I will own such a beast. :D

Popped a few in an Imperial civil war low intensity CZ, those shields are... a very tough nut to crack. But as long as you stay away from the twin turreted C3 lasers on the top that come standard as CZ loadout for them, it's survivable... (I thank the Thargoids for every CZ ship not equipped with turreted frag cannons).

Guys,

I have the privilege of owning an Imperial Cutter and I have to say that it is a joy to own. Much bigger jump range than the Python but less than an Anaconda it is much easier to fly than the Anaconda and about the same as the Python. Mine is configured to carry 512 tons of cargo and a shield strength about twice that of the Conda or about four times that of the Python.

However, and this is a big consideration it chews up credits on purchase, outfitting, fuel and repairs. It cannot land at outposts (limiting the high reward missions) and requires a high rank to own one - I am an Imperial Prince so no problems. To buy this ship I had to trade my Conda and throw most of my credits into the outfitting and then pray that someone did not max me on my first dozen missions - many tried but to my relief many died - this sucker is truly magnificent in a fight (provided that you can afford the outfitting costs). Notwithstanding you do not really want to fight in this graceful ship but instead carry out high value trades.

With the head-look engaged and looking around there is plenty of crew space in the luxurious beautifully engineered cabin. If in the future man ventures out there I hope that our descendants are able to pilot something as good as this great ship. A very happy camper but consider carefully keeping a Python for access to those outposts - sure it carry a lot less cargo but at 384 - 400 tons it is not bad and a Type 6, Keelback or ASP for your exploration needs.

By the way it has taken over a year of playing this outstanding game - just about every day to get to my current rank and wealth (not the one displayed on this post).

What weapon config you using? Tried a few in Beta but could not settle on one.

I can see why you think it's easier to fly than an anaconda if you barely had enough credits to afford it after stripping and selling your Conda.
as much as that sounds demeaning it's not how I intend it, neither ship is cheap.
that said the difference between the handling characteristics of a D rated Conda and an A rated Conda are vast. While the cutter changes little in the way it handles if you A rate it. It's like taking a car with bad under steer and giving it a bigger engine.

I imagine they are all in the outer rim somewhere, trying to slowly pitch round to get to the bubble.

Lol!

Troa,

Thank you for the feedback as I like both ships but I wanted to try the Cutter so the Conda unfortunately had to go. You are right I had a D/C rated Conda with A FSD so I don't know about A rated because I could not afford it without cashing out all of my ships ( I have kept my excellent ships (Vulture ASP Python) and dedicated them to a task when needed - but alas not the Conda). I have not given up on the Conda - an excellent fearsome ship with a great cargo capacity and I would love to experience an A rated one if I can ever get together 650 million credits plus two x the Insurance cost.

However, having said that; the Imperial Cutter is such a nice ship - with shields and landing computer can carry 512 tons (without the Shields up to about 750 tons) can really handle itself in a fight and has a shield strength and armament strength that is legendary. If you combine this with its future capability of carrying its own escort fighters, its good jump range and its ability to land on planets (but not at non -terrestrial outposts) it is versatile.

To be clear im not saying the cutter is a "bad" ship, it's not comparitively however it's horrible.

theres a big difference in what you compare it to as a trader it is brilliant, as a PVE farmer it's perfectly fine, but once you compare it as a warship to its constituents it all fall apart.

just like the clipper before it, it makes a fantastic trader and general PVE ship, unlike the clipper however it doesn't know how pick up its skirts and dance once A rated.

my problem with the cutter is that it does not act like a Gutamaya ship, especially a Gutamaya warship. It's turn rates under boost are not where they should be once A rated and it has a power distributor that has a snowballs chance in hell of powering that many hardpoints.

im happy you're liking the ship, and once it brings in the credits for you take another whack at the conda and if you haven't an A rated clipper as well.
