Last December I watched a video on the BBC website about a game. This game was called Elite Dangerous and it was the next in a series called Elite that I had never heard of. I thought it looked really cool but I hadn't gamed in eons and I wasn't planning on starting, so I moved on.
Yet, it stuck with me. It looked liked the old X-Wing sims I was obsessed with as a kid of the 90's. But I knew I would just just download it, play it once or twice and get bored again like all the games I'd played the past few years. But I relented, dropped the $60 and before heading out for some NYE revelry sat down for an hour of play on my then antiquated PC...and I then spent the rest of the night annoyed that I was out and not flying my Sidewinder.
Fast forward to this morning and I'm annoyed I'm traveling to San Francisco to see my favorite band in concert instead of smuggling in my Python or BHing in my Vulture. I still play Elite everyday and this former gaming nerd who hadn't gamed in years dropped over $2,000 for a gaming rig so support this reignited passion. I love this game.
Thank you Frontier! I thank you for the past year and the years to come.
Right on, commanders!
