It was obvious that he'd have to apologise to DisneyCorps(tm). He was making a joke referencing a practice within the Star Wars universe. Everyone at Disney just buys and sells movies. Nobody there has actually watched any of his movies to get the reference.
I did enjoy the delicious way he was mixing his metaphors within that You Tube clip. First he was referring to the movies as a wife he was divorcing, and then he referred to them as his children <boggle>. He should have just stuck to the latter metaphor. As his child, Star Wars should be given the freedom to do what it wants when it's old enough, but the child should also listen to the advice of their father.
I knew that Lucas had envisioned episodes 7,8, and 9. I assumed that these current movies were going to use his plots. If they are going to deviate from Lucas' ideas so greatly I just wonder if those original ideas are going to be available elsewhere, maybe in book form?
