UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Jeez, Christmas and New Year had me busy!

I see the Palin CG has ended and the base is due to be up ''within a week'' so that's cool news. How is the search going generally? Any update on Barnacles, Meta-Alloy missions or such? :)

~250 to date ;)

Jmanis I was considering running some UAs to the other outpost in the same system as Walker Survery. If we can get it to malfunction (in less than 250 UAs I hope) that would show that it has to have a commodity market. The outposts being in the same system eliminates a lot of the confounding variables that others have brought up. It shouldn't interfere with your tests at walker but if you get bored and want to switch station deliveries up I'd appreciate the help.

EDIT: Scratch that idea, Walker survey has the only black market in the system. Thats what I get for making assumptions.

Hello folks

A quick reminder. I've had to delete a couple of posts that were about the game files, please remember that this is not allowed.

Dear Yaffle, I truly respect all the moderation team and deeply appreciate your work.
But in this particular case, there wasn't any "gaining advantage" behavior in what was done. Some of us, me being the first I admit it, just gave a fast peek into game folders, with the aim of reading a couple of folders names. What came out was a possible name mispelling that was immediately reported to FD as a possible BUG.
That's all, really.

Here you can see the Bug report, that even received a reply from FD support team, and we are still waiting for an official reply on it.

Given that mispelling errors have been already occurred in the past, as you probably know, what I/we made, was done with that in mind.
Being on this mystery since day one, I really know what fair gaming is ;)

Ditto, just got back myself. I actually had a dream last night where the UA stuff was solved.... :/

Try your luck in LAWD 26. Little bit hidden behind the "DOA" in map but well known. Good UA testing ground since a long time ...
Yes and yes. But no permit ...

Indeed.
LAWD 26 is the first that comes to mind, being a few Ly from Sol, then Shapley 1 is another.
I'll be going in both of them soon, with the Alloys mission still active.

High Temperature Stars, with close landable planets, could be a good way to go, IMHO.
Thunderbird System was really close to this description, but I found nothing relevant in the Metal Planet that is very close to the hot main star.

Ok, It's worth trying to find the location of the base. I went back to start over from the source video and remade the star clip mask more accurately as I found I could not match the first one to the screenshot it came from. So here's a new one with extra stars and an image of it over a reference screenshot it came from so you tell which stars are which.

So far all I know for certain is that the planet with the base is located in the bubble not as far out as Ngobe.
Probably a system with at least 2 stars 1 large yellow and one small blue assuming the other scenes on the reddish planet are the same planet.

I should ask my colleague about how they implemented star matching for satellite attitude control. It was a little over my head. I think it might only work with a catalog of stars and star brightnesses as seen from Earth though.

I just visited Shapley 1, and it has no planets. Just 2 stars, the main Wolf-Rayet class and a class K.

Thanks for the info, think that will be my job for tonight. yeah it would be nice to find one with a close metal rich world but i will settle for what can be found.

Confirmed system Synuefe QZ-V B35-4, tried communications using binary and hexadecimal without response. Sold at Converse Platform in the Orulas system.

Are you guys still looking for green planets? I've been doing some trading at HR 827 and Smith Station orbits a nice green one with a few settlements on it. It is HR 827 4, screen shot below (sorry from the Rift so it's a stereo screenshot cut and paste).

Not sure if this is within your search area.

There were some posts from other members that went beyond that, and I think that is what Yaffle was likely to be referring to here.

You all know my attitude. Even being told of the folder name Ruins things for me. It's not information gathered in game, so it counts as hacking (even if a chimp can do it) imho.
Please don't ruin the game for others, and please get the ban hammer if you do.

I had something strange happen while scanning a medical convoy and I'm wondering has anyone else has seen it: the four vultures and the python literally disappeared in front of my eyes. No wakes left.

For back story i was flying to Nelson works to turn in the CG and ran into a SSS about 15mm from Nelson works. I dropped in to find a medical python and 4 vultures. The transport was saying "Cargo secure, I guess" which I believe is a normal variant for chatter. On cargo scan it was carrying 5 occupied escape pods, scientific research, and progenitor cells (once again, standard variant). As I went to cargo scan the vultures the medical transport disappeared. Eyes are playing tricks on me, space delirium and all that. Then the vultures one at a time disappeared as well. The last vulture to disappear was turned heading toward me as he did not like being cargo scanned and literal vanished right in front of my eyes.

My first thought was it was either a bug OR for some reason dropping into orbital cruise does not leave a wake but yet changes instances (thus causing disappearing NPCs) or some such game mechanic... Then I got the tinfoil out and decided it must have been cloaking devices, a very reasonable explanation when one is eating space biscuits and sipping tea. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen something of this nature happen before or not. And, of course, I have no pictures/video as that would be too easy.

Ah well LAWD 26 it is for now then.

there's this one but the main star must be named so I can't find the system:
http://universalcartographics.org/records/closest-wolf-rayet-star-to-sol/
will fly to sol in a bit should be able to locate it with the distance provided
edit: ah its lawd 26
edit2: this one is 750Ly from sol http://universalcartographics.org/records/wolf-rayet-star-with-the-most-bodies/ it has lots of planets :D
this one is 730ly but less planets http://universalcartographics.org/records/hottest-wolf-rayet-star/

Woo hoo, just caught up. Happy new year all o7

had a weird dream last night where I dropped into a SSS and it was filled with Thargoid motherships. They were black and grey, very cool paintjobs, anyway I was spamming F10 obviously but then spotted the Millenium Falcon and realised it was a dream

Anyways, I was perusing EDDB the other day and looking for a pattern in the sell price of meta-alloys. The range is only 5k lowest to highest. Zorya Nong(?) was the cheapest but it appeared it was based on economy more than location. Industrial paying less than refinery. I have been away since so haven't finished looking. I thought I'd mention it in case someone else was on the same line.
