I want to see some heavy fighter alternatives to the vulture

So around the same price point but instead of 2 large hardpoints I want to see a fighter with 6-8 medium hardpoints.
Basically something I can strap a load of fixed multicannons on to shred my enemies under the weight of my dakka.

Another ship that almost as fast as a viper but has 4 medium hardpoints.

8 C2 hardpoints?! It would need a pretty hearty Power Distributor, at least C6 if not C7. I don't think that's gonna fit in a small ship.

Similiar weaponry to the ASP but a bit more bite as would fit a dedicated fighter which will likely have crap internal space and jump range.

The Courier is already damn near on-par with the Vulture, combat-wise.

I think that maybe a fighter with four medium hardpoints and anywhere between 7-8 maneuverability would fit the Vulture price point better than the 6-8 medium hardpoint monster that the OP is suggesting.

So imagine a
Courier sized ship with either 3 or 4 nacelles.

That would put it at 4 or 5 mediums, and probably tune down the great speed and jump distance, making it more like a true fighter.

Edit: the 1 or two extra nacelles would be weapon pods only, it would look pretty slick if you ask me.

The Asp has four small and two medium and already has the same firepower as the Vulture.

You want way too much for 5mill. Four mediums and two smalls is like a young Python for goodness' sake.

4! Yes!

5 mediums is an AWFUL lot of firepower. You have to realize that mediums have almost identical dps to larges. Their only downside is armor penetration on large ships.

So, basically an FDL Scout? Remove the huge hard point and enough weight to give it jump range. As the main FDL value is gone, so is its price point.

The Federal Assault ship is the closest thing to a Vulture. It's a shame they dropped the ball so badly with the Courier. It should have had 4x Medium Hardpoints and a 5A Distributor.

It's a Vulture upgrade (cost and damage wise). But basically a logical step up from the Vulture. If you like one for its agility and large hard points, you will like the other.

I had similar hopes for the Viper Mk 4 - more power, 4 mediums, faster.

Instead we got more power, same weapons, slower, less agile, and for some stupid reason more cargo capacity.

Personally I would expect them to be asymetric, with the extras being closer to the body.

Maybe two longer ones on bottom, two shorter ones on top.

I'd hoped that the Viper Mk IV would have 2xmedium and 1xlarge, I'd love to have a real alternative dogfighter to the Vulture (don't tell me to get a FAS, I'm not sucking up to Fedscum!) but nooooo... all the other fun ships to fly like Couriers, Eagles, Vipers all gotta have little peashooters stuck on 'em. When I say around a vulture price I don't mean exactly 5 mil, I mean more than the newbie ships but no where near the FDL/Python point. (and to be honest the cost of ships at that point is pretty ludicrous)

So probably around 10 mil.


Anyway, cost is a moot point.
I don't care about the price, I just want a combat ship that focuses on medium/small hardpoints because the weapon variety after point is lackluster, especially for ballistic weapons.
But, all the ships leading up to the vulture have the same 2 small 2 medium arrangement, its a lack of variety and its pretty boring.

I'd even go for the asp's 4 small 2 medium arrangement on a dedicated fighter hull.
