The stupid "assault offense" bounties...

Look, can we just get rid of the idea that shooting without a scan automatically gets a bounty on your head regardless whether your target was wanted or not? I mean sure, the scan only takes like 5 seconds, but I still think it's completely bonkers that all the system security ships release all hell on me when I absent-mindedly shoot on sight a Fer-De-Lance that I KNOW FOR A FACT has a bounty on it's head on a resource extraction site.

I know other people have died because of it and I know they have also complained about it. Some would even go out of their way to think it's a randomly occurring glitch so could we just dispose of it?

Hah... how many more threads on this topic does it take for people to understand procedural justice...

Clearly, G - something needs a nerf... perhaps FDEV should make your bounty decrease $100,000K per encounter, once you pass a certain amount? ;)

This was removed in 1.4 but came back in 2.0. So I'm thinking it's a reintroduced bug. It was my pet hate pre 1.4 and I'm not glad to see it back.

Dude. You're complaining about a $400 bounty.

Mine is over $30,000 at the moment.

Get over it.
Ah, but you see the system security don't give a damn if you have a 100 or a 100,000 bounty. They still assault you with everything they've got.

Mind you I personally haven't died yet because of this since spamming tab and j as well as occasionally throwing some chaff always seems to do the trick. The extra repair costs are quite irritating though, not to mention the fact that it puts a stop on my favourite hobby: Being a hero for fun... and profit.

Basically what I'm saying is yes, it's a kind of small problem sure, but it seems like a problem nonetheless and you can't address problems by just quietly sitting in the corner, can you? ;)

Go to another system and have your fun there until your bounty matures/expires. Then return, and pay it off.

It's not that it's hard to deal with, it just delays you which is mildly annoying. Honestly I was just checking if other people think of this as a problem in gameplay.

Guess not.

Multi-million galaxy wide bounty here...

I should make several threads just to vent my dismay...

can you stand still so I can kill you and get the money? :p

In his defense, I just had to leave the system, shot a missile to a python, only for a cop to fly in between and get blasted.

Had to leave my nice hunting ground because of it.

No, sorry @_@

And I know what it's like to have a cop interfere with my massacre of wanted NPCs.

I proudly fired two full racks of pack hound missiles (24 missiles in total), only to have a system authority eagle fly straight into the general trajectory of the missiles...

And yea...

There was firework alright...

What makes even less sense to me is how you can still pick up these fines in a haz res?

After all when you arrive you are greeted by the words:
System link error: security response unavailable
-
Personally I think what goes on in a Haz Res should stay in a Haz Res.

Did you just describe todays law enforcement?

That just means the cops will not show up to a haz res. You will still get a bounty for killing stuff you should not

[oops wrong topic- delete and come up with something to say on this topic]

umm.. internal business security firms can have their own Bounty list, even pirate ones- with payoff to corrupt Star Control officials to link them to their bounty databases.

[whew- found something to talk about on this]

That the fact that the best way to get rid of these is to buy a sidewinder elsewhere and get yourself blown up in that tells you all about how well designed this game mechanic is.

And yes, I'll keep ranting about this pet peeve for a while.

But unless you get blown up by someone who collects the bounty, that only makes your bounty dormant. Get scanned by system authority where you have that dormant bounty and it will come back with a reset timer. Seems fine to me.
