It is said with love and affection but it is definately because the CMDRs in this community are older and shall we say wiser =D . Try getting at 50+ year old to play GTAV. It's all about the experiences.
Now, that's slowly changing following release (and definitely since Steam release). I've been here since beta and the mood around the forums has shifted significantly since then.
What's GTAV ?

I've been around here for almost a month now, I've read a dozen threads here and talked to a number of people both in-game and the forums and it simply baffles me how friendly and helpful everyone is. I've played a bunch of multiplayer games in my time and up until now I was under the strong impression that every community has it's douchebags, but it simply does not seem to apply to Elite: Dangerous and my mind just can't even comprehend it. One thing I've come to understand is that Frontier definitely seems to have a strict policy against any negative behavior, but taking some examples I've seen before in consideration I'd say there's only so much the developers can do about it so it feels like there's some higher power at work here. Are space sims really THAT complicated that they turn all of the FPS and MOBA kids away?
I mean this may seem like a strange question, but I'm genuinely intrigued by this. I think if there's a legit reason to this then perhaps it could be used as an example to improve other gaming communities as well.
Needless to say this is a lovely community to be a part of![]()

Because the majority of us are old enough to wear slippers whilst playing this game
