Now, that's slowly changing following release (and definitely since Steam release). I've been here since beta and the mood around the forums has shifted significantly since then.

I think it's got bigger and less intimate but not worse.

Exactly. Now get off my lawn and turn that music down! ;)

See this droll sense of humour wouldn't work anywhere else, I rep you good sir =)

Thanks guys...

I fess up to being in the 50+ group

Oddly on the Forum I'm one of those on many peoples ignore list or branded as a toll... must be the age related telling it as it is thing ?.... but you'll find me on the very, very, very large PVE group TS channel.... if I'm not doing one of my own little projects.......... I'm helping new people out along with the large group of people "that do"

It is said with love and affection but it is definately because the CMDRs in this community are older and shall we say wiser =D . Try getting at 50+ year old to play GTAV. It's all about the experiences.

im only 35 myself but i have to say gta v for me is the pinnacle of gaming....a living breathing city that has working transport systems and all that....i used to dream of games becoming that as a kid on my speccy....gta series is the one throughout my 30 years of gaming that has taking more of my gaming time than any other games, closely followed by elder scrolls series.

gta v with a steering wheel and vr headset is the most virtual real life experience one could ask for

I've been around here for almost a month now, I've read a dozen threads here and talked to a number of people both in-game and the forums and it simply baffles me how friendly and helpful everyone is. I've played a bunch of multiplayer games in my time and up until now I was under the strong impression that every community has it's douchebags, but it simply does not seem to apply to Elite: Dangerous and my mind just can't even comprehend it. One thing I've come to understand is that Frontier definitely seems to have a strict policy against any negative behavior, but taking some examples I've seen before in consideration I'd say there's only so much the developers can do about it so it feels like there's some higher power at work here. Are space sims really THAT complicated that they turn all of the FPS and MOBA kids away?

I mean this may seem like a strange question, but I'm genuinely intrigued by this. I think if there's a legit reason to this then perhaps it could be used as an example to improve other gaming communities as well.

Needless to say this is a lovely community to be a part of :)

Most of the community is so friendly and somewhat smart, becuz almost all Kids ragequit instantly after they die the first time, or when they dont understand how to leave the station with their Sidewinder.

So, basically the learning curve protects us from all the "Call of Duty"-Generation-Kids. :*

I have not looked at the exploration sub forum. Thanks askavir for that
Currently Exploring because I got sick of the Powerplay spending millions on foritfying.

Yep I agree that its a lot more friendly on these forums. you get a helpful answer and people stay on the topic
and I was expecting to get negative comments for asking a question.

The median age of players in this game is roughly 35 to 40, and there are a lot of 50+ players as well. Regardless of folks proclivity towards PvE or PvP, ultimately the community loves the game, and most will help new players out.

Saying this, the community is schizophrenic at some very basic levels which leads to some interesting forum PvP moments.

You've clearly been cherry picking your posts sir ;).

You'll also notice the older generation of gamer on here have serious egos about themselves and are not afraid to show there "age superiority" however i didn't fight in the war and i consider myself rather pleasant so i wouldn't say its age, id just say its that the game isn't Call of Duty, does not quite attract the "wham bam thank you man" crowd.....OF ALL AGES.

:).

There's a minuscule crossover between people who "get" Elite and people who make the Internet a worse place.

We're just superior beings, really.
