"Heavy multipurpose" is probably closest to how I use her.
I have 400-ish cargo hold, some mining and exploration equipment, a bit of armour, Bi-weave (No SCB) and big teeth. (Three beams and three PAs)
I'm doing missions, fortify and bounty hunt. Been to Barnard's Loop and California.
I clashed with a few commanders (FAS, FDL, Vultures) and my total repair bill so far is something over 100.000 (I lost 15% armour twice)

When I bought her, I outfitted her as a pure trader and it didn't work for me. Plus I got destroyed by some vicious FDL (stupid no retreat policy).
But since I put her into shape, well, I think I won't fly anything else for a while.

Pure Trader and I like the way the cutter flies, devs have done a decent job with the handling, I think it conveys the size and mass of the ship pretty well. There again I wasn't really expecting to be flying a +2k tonne Vulture ;)

Slotting is easy enough, just don't try to do anything last minute.

Don't have A Cutter but would use it as a PvP combat ship. :)

BAAAAAD very baaaad idea. I'd eat you like a baby with cobra/vulture/clipper/python maybe even in T6 with luck.
It turns so baaad.

Cargo fortress with 7 turrets, pretty much the same as I played my Conda before. Though the conda could power 8 burst turrets fully and could actually face the enemy better while evading fire. Had to make it two class 3 pulse turrets and only the rest burst on the Cutter with that class 7 distributor. The insane shields still outlast any pirate encounter while trading easily.

i bought mine as a replacement for my trading-clipper, which i used for trading community goals mainly. now it waits for a trading community goal i take part in.

All that say's is you can't fly the ship, or you can't think ahead in a heavy ship... If I wasn't using it for combat I wouldn't even bother with shields

You can't easily see slight horizontal or vertical movements not related to pilot input in any ship, but the sizes are forgiving enough not to matter - until you get to Cutter, where millimetres count. Frontier also only gave a GUI for the pad alignment not the slot and there is no record/replay in debug like in Flight Sims. So you learn by clangs and vague pulsating spots on the ship schematic. And clangs on this pig cost.

Sigh. I'm not saying I can't do it, but if I want to speed up, test the envelope, do something fancy, learn new things about this ship, I will clang a lot. Or I can just do what I know works and just sit and wait until all the traffic has gone so that I can execute that one manoeuvre. You learn the most from pushing the envelope and from the scrapes - you must be a godly pilot if this all came to you from the moment you first touched the stick.

Got one as a trader/fortifications runner.

I'll buy a second one as soon as possible and use it as my new mining ship. My mining python will then be reverted to being a mission runner.

Am not saying that all, fair enough mate, I understand where you're coming from. I also learn from pushing the envelope, but once you are comfortable with the ship, flying shieldless is a non issue.

I really wanna take you up on that offer. PM me and we can test it out.

I see you ignored piracy, good job.

Never thought one could try this with that brick.... ;-)
(I mean it can catch up but.... what if the other pilot turns 180° and boost in the opposite direction? Pirate won't primary kill their fools eh victims...)

Is drift another name for inertia, a big ship that doesn’t handle like an asp who would have thought it?

Mines on a 4Ly A-B-A trade route nearly 3M per round trip. An hour on that then off in the Python to melt some NPC’s in a Hazres life’s fun again and the cutters even better.

I don’t care how much money I made smuggling endless time spent switching to stack missions. Then 300Ly in a Python zzzzzz then drop offs at about 10 -15 stations more zzzzz

Oh but it’s so exciting because of the interdictions, really?
Cops; submit > boost > boost > jump, byeee
Pirates; submit > target > melt > jump

FD need complimenting on a ship that handles like it has mass and the sound design that’s is even better. As I am maxed out for cargo it’s only got 6A shield but fitted out with turrets it’s no push over in a High intensity rez either.

I like mine so far. I use it as a multi-purpose. 512 tons of cargo, fuel scoop and FSD interdictor. One huge gimbaled cannon, 3 gimbaled beams, 2 turreted pulse and 2 turreted multi-cannons. I'm heavily involved in PowerPlay so I use it to deliver documents to help me maintain my rank 5. 512 cargo vs. the 320 I have with my Anaconda. Once I deliver, I often go undermining other powers. Yes, the Anaconda is better for undermining but I don't have any problem to do it with the Cutter. I fly it almost exclusively since I got it one week after Horizons was released.

I opted for combat/trader, but my Cutter is very much a work in progress. 520t, D-Rated other than a C-Class FSD while I raise money to upgrade. It is armed, although not to full potential. The few interdictions I've had have been by small NPC's, which with use of FA-off and thrusters have been rather pleasing. The shields didn't blink. :)

I really like the Cutter, I like the fact that it handles like the huge behemoth it actually is. It's quite good learning to fly it with D-Rated thrusters, as things will get marginally easier when I get it fully upgraded.

At Tycoon 58%, trading in the Cutter feels like there is more to gain than just credits. First time I've done proper trading since my Hauler days: it's rather nice.

With the oversized shield generatoral and thrusters it's just way too.expensive to properly combat fit

I agree that the price is huge, but I'm a patient man. It probably helps that I hoard ships and keep them in one place. I can always go off and earn the cash in another vessel. But yeah, massively expensive for sure.

*cue all the multi-billionaires to come rub our noses in it* ;)

Trade all day. It flies fantastically even with the 7D thrusters and 728 tons of cargo on board. Really want the 8A thrusters but they're a bit out of my price range at the moment. So far it's been surprisingly apt when it comes to getting by station police, so long as it's not landing at a Coriolis-type station.
