*Scratches Head* I don't get it....

There is one mission in particular that just doesn't make any sense.

It is the one where you need to deliver regular cargo to some destination sometimes with a fairly good payout, yet they fine you a ridiculous amount thus negating the payout? What the frick? The goods are not prohibited, there is no potential of getting scanned and losing the mission, it's a simple delivery mission.. I don't get it, Am I missing something?

I know the missions/system needs a lot of love but this one really leaves me scratching my head....

Special order by a private hire?

Think of yourself as a sub contractor for Amazon ;)

Did you deliver it via the bulletin board (thus completing the mission), or sell it on the commodities market?

I suppose lol, we do live an a fee world now so why would it be any different 1286 years from now.... It's just a silly mission..

Didn't take the mission as It made no sense, I have seen these missions since day 1 and never made sense, and never seen any official explanation. But last night I saw one for 246,735 payout with a 235,440 fine, so got me thinking about it again..

New to the game so please excuse my ignorance if I am wrong, but is the Fine what you would pay if you don't complete the mission on time?

Edit: So if you deliver the goods on time you get the 246, but if you decide to take the goods and run or get blown up and losing the goods you then have to pay 235.

They don't fine you immediately, the fine is incurred if you fail to deliver the cargo, by losing due to ship termination or it getting stolen by you or someone else. You can of course, buy more to finish it if you so wish.

I do believe there's a certain text right in front of the fine that makes a point of noting "This is the price for failure". Those contracts are, after all, companies giving you a product to move for them. You lose the product, you bought it.

Thats a great point and would fully explain the mission setup, it has been my experience though that you get fined upon completion of the delivery even if on time or early. I did one of these mission way back when I first started playing as well to start earning credits, and not knowing any better the fine was taken out of the reward.

Errrm I think you'll find that you are over-analysing the text. In your example above it's a 246,735 payout if you succeed at completing the mission. The 235,440 fine kicks in if you fail the mission. They are mutually exclusive events.

It isn't "Here have 246,735 but now we are going to take back 235,440" as you appear to be interpreting it.

Ahh ok that would make perfect sense then!! so then they must have fixed the missions taking the fine out when you turn it in. Thanks for the heads up! I have ignored those missions the last year as I thought they were bunk! lol

Yea understood, I see the point and as mentioned earlier those missions apparently used to be bugged, so back then as a new player I thought it was normal and never payed any attention to them, have ignored them ever since till last night lol.

Much obliged for the head straightening.. rep given even for the folks who were ninja'd ;)

Dont worry about it! There's a learning curve even for experienced players- Ive been playing for nearly a year and I learn new things all the time. Rep for having the courage to ask questions on the forums that might seem obvious :)

You only get fined if you fail to complete the mission (within the allotted time).
Sorry, but I thought you knew that.
(Sorry if you did know that.)

I've highlighted the problem for you.

This is ED remember - where anything that lessens the grind or where you can make good credits will be nerfed.
