Higher density stars seem to be rendered within a box

I'm approaching the centre of the galaxy and I've noticed that higher star density appears to be rendered within a square area, outside that box the density of stars appears to be lower.

In this screenshot I'm pointing towards the galactic core and you can see there is a dividing line where star density becomes higher (left) - http://i.imgur.com/6mj35jb.jpg

It's hard to show the whole area in a screenshot but if I pitch up or down and around it basically forms a box with higher star density.

Is this normal?

Yeah it's normal. The galaxy is rendered/generated in cubes. Sometimes the density doesn't quite match

In my case it seems there is a box with higher density in each system I jump to

You will see discrepancies a lot more striking than that as you move into the very high density stars. I love it out there, I'm going to have to go out again soon

It's beautiful out here, worth another trip I'd say
