Storage space for parts?

Just finished buying all the Prismatic shields from Aisling Duval. From size 1 to 8 (also had to buy 8 ships to store them on). In order to have access to them when i join another faction.

Do you guys think that FD doesnt want players to have the ability to store parts from other stations/factions? And just arent aware that we already can store parts in this "clumsy" way? I'm sure a valid argument can be made for why they wouldnt want us to have this ability. Or do you think they just arent adding a convenient way to store them because they dont think its important enough to cmdrs?

Personally I want to try different builds using various faction parts. So I want to buy them all. Sure would be nice to have a dedicated place to store them at a Starbase so I dont have to flip through a 100 ships to find where i stored a part. Maybe another tab in the outfitting menu for "Stored parts"? I'm sure real estate is at a premium on a Starbase, so I would be willing to pay a large amount of credits for this space, even a weekly maintenance fee. Anyone else like to see this added? I'm not a programmer, but seems like this would be a fairly easy thing to implement.

My thought is it isn't about the difficulty in programming it. It's likely more that they don't want to make it too easy on people to switch powers.. Get all the gear.. And then go back to ignoring it all.

I definitely think we should be able to store parts at stations in the same way as ships

Buy and equip
Buy and store

Done.

Also I must warm you that the rebuy screen won't always let you buy parts back if I recall, you risk losing those shields

Makes sense, but i dont think its that easy. If you wanted to collect even half the faction parts you are talking about a lot of credits to purchase them/working for the new faction and downtime waiting until you can actually by them.

My experience is you just cant leave the station. But if I sell a faction part, then switch to another ship, I always seem to be able to buy that part back, have done it a 100 times. However if you leave the station the part is gone.

How much cash did you lock up doing that?!?!?

Dont ask.. I was questioning myself as I did it XD Honestly it wasnt too bad for size 1-5, they arent that expensive or the ships needed to store them. I already had extra ships in my inventory to store size 6 & 7. It was the A8 that was expensive, but already had a Cutter, which never gets used, so its now my storage ship for that part and about the only ship that will use that part, unless they come up with new ships. I didnt add the total cost up, but it was like 300-400m? Just guessing. But now im done with Aisling dont ever have to go back. Her Faction perks really suck.

This is probably going to be by far the most expensive Faction to store parts from, I think the rest will be a fraction of that cost.

There's both a time limit, and a reset if you go to SC, but you do have time to exit the station, fly around a bit then go back to rebuy what you had.

Good to hear, I wish I had been so lucky thankfully it was only the fsd from asp to python that did me in and the station didn't have it. Didn't move an inch

Could have just been a buggy transaction but I've never attempted it since

On topic again I think a good way to keep the data down would be a stored parts limit like ships. They could even put a price on different storage bay sizes

As long as it isn't a recurring fee when offline im fine with it.
id like to see it billed through refit fees instead of weekly monthly ect.
