You mean like they weren't fixed last year?

I mean, that the bug missions now, like other contents of the game that still are basic and incomplete, will take a secondary place this year.

Passenger missions, for example, should have been already launched in the game release in 2014. And until now nothing..not a single word...just the "usual", "on the list".

And sorry, my english is not good.

1. take on mulitpart mission
2. Complete part 1 or 2
3. Part 3 is land on a planet. fail

1. Mulitpart mission - deliver 3 tonnes of scrap to station
2. go to station - deliver goods.
4. Next part of the mission is to deliver commodites found on a planet - its in red!! cant accept the next part
5. You cant accept that - in fact you cant get out of the screen - your choices are accept (in red you cant) or open galaxy map.
so you have to quit to menu

please fix - and not just fix - please show love. pretend its a multiplayer feature

Yes i know what you talking about. i picked up those multipart missions...

Missions are so poorly designed.

I always laugh how stupid the mission system when a 30-40k credit cargo mission needs Tycoon or Entrepreneur trade rank!
Why would somebody pick up such missions if he already reached those ranks? Probably he has T-6 or 7 transporter ship and he earn far more credit then 30-40k.
Same "logic" missions: 100k for killing someone and you can only pick up when you have master combat rank. If you fly to low level RES you get more credit with a mostly harmless rank. If the mission gives 1 mill then i say ok but this? Joke.
Courier missions for 25-35k credit. Sometimes you need pathfinder or ranger explorer rank. lol
Best: i cant pick up a cargo mission for 50-60k credit because i dont have 85-110 cargo space. A player who have such ship probably earn more credit with a single hope route. Who would pick up such a mission?

I played 220 hour with this game since i bought it on black friday for 12 euro. I did a lots of trade and smuggling missions. i did some exploration, res, conflict zones etc.
i have A rated viper mk4 and i earned the credit for this ship after horizons come out and missions was nerfed, so i grinded my @ss off to make 10 million with a adder ship.
Now i mostly do res to make money because the bulletin board still give me mostly 30-50k missions. (i'm allied or friendly with the minor factions in 3-4 system. Allied with the federation)
Sometimes i think this game is still in beta, some parts of it alpha. For 12 euro it was a fair prize because this game is very far from a AAA game.
I didnt bought the horizons expansion for 45 eur. After i read most of the steam reviews and here the forum topics. Its a robbery. Maybe the next black friday for another 12 eur.

i can't even bookmark a place for god sake...

The short answer is that missions are not meant to be an income stream, in and of themselves. Mission payments are meant to be small rewards for working for a faction. The reward for doing those missions are the size of the influence change they provide. I would hope (since we do not know) that higher level missions add to influence in higher levels.

I've decided to have a few months off from Elite until they get some of the bugs squashed and add a bit more content. I never thought I'd say it but I've actually gone back to EVE for my space fix after not playing it for 2-3 years, and after a few days in EVE you realise how much stuff Elite is actually missing and also how poor the Elite missions are. Now don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting for a minute that Elite needs to be more like EVE, they are very different games and both have their pros & cons but FD really should take hints from EVE's missions because they are so much more fun than the ones in Elite.
Same. I played in the beta, loved it, but then on release I realized too much changed for the worse, so I've decided to take a break for a few months and let some more updates hit. I'm pretty bummed.

That's a ridiculous answer. You're saying a freelance pilot can't get a decent paying job because the general population of the system expects them to just be content with the system's growth? "We're not paying you very much because we're going to be really happy you did this for us!" Right...

BB missions do get better as your Rank increases, as you become allied with factions who offer them and as you get a ship with more space in it.

I got paid 250k the other night to fly 17 tonnes of a commodity that wasn't even illegal to another system 1 jump away. Took 5 to 10 minutes, and I carried some cargo of my own, too.

They're not the same as trading, but can be profitable once you know where to look...

Frontier lost half a year on Powerplay and CQC, when they could have worked on the main game.

Not even counting the Xbone version (I hope they made a lot of money on this...).

Let's hope they will invest their energies better in 2016.

You won't do the missions because they do not pay enough....working as intended. Yep.

Are you having a giraffe? Ever played with EVERYTHING on 'ultra'? Plus tweak the ini graphics settings?
running on ultra since beta (2014) im pretty sure they nerfed something in RES sites, not a deal breaker at all for me, but i see it. the thing that bother me is RES crashes, and the performance drop when landing on empty planets (i'm still asking how a tiled texture could drop so much performance, waiting for optimizations)
courious about ini tweaks :)

Mission pay increases with ranks though is that right? So don't see the issue.
Sometimes, very simple short range missions to haul a little bit of cargo (like 15T scrap or :):):):).. sorry.. biowaste) for less than 35k credits have a minimum requirement of Tycoon.
On other words: ridiculous.

Yes, and: doesn't help. Edit: I mean the ultra, not the giraffe :)

Sorry Roybe but I just can't agree with this opinion. I have no interest in the background sim, but do enjoy running missions and in 1.3 and 1.4 running missions was a good way of making money, not as good as just farming in a res or bulk trading sure, but still a good way of making money. Trying to reduce missions to just being about influencing the background sim is just whitewashing over the current problem.

I would have interest in the background sim (and so would be ready to spend 2 hrs for 50k reward) if my actions impacted the faction AND I cared about the values of the faction (ie it was more than just 'this faction believes in respect and harmony') AND the faction expressed acknowledgement of my underpaid devotion (medal/title/fewer scans - anything that made me think I was being appreciated without CR).

I agree. More information on the factions and recognition from the factions (better rewards/deals, more missions etc.) would certainly help me get invested in helping them. Although it still wouldn't alter the fact that the missions should have a better payout.

I can tolerate alot of bugs even bugs that result in you getting killed. But when you combine that in game buggy death with loss of credits and thus a waste of limited time - someone responsible must answer for this and make amends.

This is the one thing that I really really hate about this - the added insult of loss of progress due to their bugs and general laziness. I get that there needs to be a penalty for death and that the current penalty is only really of concern for relatively new players as they are then ones who typically cant afford the buggy deaths - but those are also the people who havnt invested enough time yet to bother to tolerate this as much as better off players - ie those who are more likely to say sod this - do something less buggy and frustrating instead.

I do like the game a lot and enjoy playing it, but my main concern about Elite: Dangerous is that the increased focus on multiplayer content seems to reduce the resources spend on developing content that would benefit everyone, from "solo" over "private group" to "open" mode players.

Two very good examples for this are some major updates from season 1 and season 2:

  • In Season 1 we got Wings with the 1.2 release of ED, but contrary to many players expectations and to what other games provide, the option to enlist NPC wingmen instead of players wasn't included. Even worse, neither David Braben himself nor the developers wanted to confirm that NPC wingmen for hire would indeed come during season 2. So we might reach the year 2017 without the option to hire NPC wingmen - a basic mechanic that you have in nearly every other space flight game, and not only the new ones, but even those released decades ago like X-Wing Alliance or Starlancer. In ED, update 1.2 and Wings are basically meaningless for players in solo mode, and even in open or private group modes it requires coordination, aligning schedules with other players etc. to take advantage of this mechanic.
  • In Season 2 we are going to get Multicrews, a concept I like in principle, but that again will be restricted to players. This case baffles me especially, since I believe that NPCs are much, much better suited for the role of crewmembers than other players. Players need to be entertained, e.g. they need something to do that let's them stick to the game. Right now, it's already easy to manage your ship alone and people complain about SC being void of anything to do. If ship management for individual players is watered down further by distributing these not to complex states among multiple players, I don't see how this might address the concerns about not having enough to do in the game.

FD stating that the ED community is great and that player groups are providing needed variety and content is a cheap excuse for not being able to provide this content themselves, IMHO. Adding NPCs to those mechanics mentioned above - crews and wings - would already alleviate this perceived problem of missing content. It would become much easier for everyone - including players in multiplayer modes - to take advantage of and enjoy the multicrew and wings gameplay mechancis.

Don't get me wrong, I think ED is a terrific game and Horizons is one hell of an achievement for the devs - kudos again to them! - but if you ask me about my main concern about Elite: Dangerous it is neglecting the possibility to enjoy everything the game has to offer without the need of teaming up with other players.

I'm starting to think that the reason the aren't including NPC wingmen and crewmen is simply because its beyond them to do so. I mean the AI we have now is mostly pretty hopeless so I imagine any NPC crew would be pretty shambolic as well. Maybe they just don't have the coding skills in this area to implement it properly yet.

That's a lot of people complaining that it's hard to make money , well I remember it being a grind to make money too .
Play solo and trade you lazy sods .
Then when you have enough money and Rep you'll buy the ships get the missions that pay.
Mission broken ?
Play them when they are fixed then.
All those planets, in systems with bases and things to do.
Christ people !
I tell you what, you enjoy your time away from the computer, like at work , whoo hoo , then you'll enjoy yourselves more.

Whilst I agree with you and have, in fact, stopped playing the game until such time as they sort a lot of stuff out, it never ceases to amaze me how people are still commenting on Frontier's almost complete lack of PR understanding and total lack of customer communication in regards to the many and blatant issues with the game.

People have been calling for more transparency, more communication and more openness from Frontier since the game was released with not so much as a pip in response from Frontier. What on earth makes you think they'll change that policy of stony silence now?

Sorry but Frontier has gotten way better at communicating with its player base over the last year.

Yeah, I agree, it isn't a fair comparison but EVE's mission structure hasn't changed a great deal since it's release, so it is not like CCP evolved the missions into a finely tuned system and it isn't unrealistic to expect a game released 11 years later to have slightly more advanced or involving missions.

That said, I don't want to turn this into another Elite v EVE argument - I was simply stating that after running the EVE lvl 4 missions for a few days, and having lots of fun doing so, you realise just how much the Elite missions are lacking.

Elite has been out for a little over a year and the missions over that time has improved. Give it another year or two and I'm sure they will be up an even exceed what EVE has built.

Certacito has hit the nail on the head for me. I really enjoyed playing pre 2.0, and was so looking forward to Horizons, but tbh, I wish I hadn't bothered getting it.

I found planetary landing interesting the first couple of times, but there is precious little to do once there. I really enjoyed the fact that trading, although not exciting, was profitable, and that hasn't changed, apart from being significantly less profitable now. The CGs are fun as always, but the constant bugs and stuff ups are incredibly frustrating. Combat hasn't changed much IMO, still enjoy that but the AI need a few more brains! I haven't done much exploring but it doesn't interest me at all, so not sure if there is any improvement there. Ranking up and missions are just hopeless at the moment and even the long range smuggling missions (which were great fun and very profitable before 2.0) are much less fun due to the insane difficulty in avoiding scans and needing a big ship to stack a few, with all failing on one scan. This is not a fun mechanic - fail the mission you are delivering if scanned would be fine, but not all of them.

They are massively fun. An even more fun when you stack them because the risk is much higher and the amount of people chasing you is even higher.

If anything Frontier should toughen them up a bit more.

An money should be hard to make, E:D isn't about becoming a billionaire, it about surviving in a tough, unfair, world with trigger happy stations.
