That's a bit weird.

I had that samebug about 30 mins ago on Merope 3c.

Was quite close to the ground but no landing gear deployed, suddenly "Landing successful". Eh? Double checked genuinely no gear deployed yet somehow I'd landed, had to thrust up to relaunch like a normal landing would.

Never seen that before.

10km is the one to beat. 'Known issue' by many explorers btw, lands midair.
I think we should start a contest with this one.

Okay...so the radio static changes depending on your direction. On merope C ( -49 -39) from my location it seems strongest around 140 to 155. Just seems louder and more constant.

was a mining outpost, only thing i have noticed is that i get strange reading on the scanner in the area, you srat getting close and the it moved (same readings if it were a ship)

and the wierdest bug yet "you have landed successfully" not satying my piloting skills are awesome but i was 5km above the surface... still scanning all deep craters in the area

IIRC, buggies in trailer were first visiting some mining outpost, then t9 crash-site, then green glowing Barnacles(?).

So how about devs put a script into a game - you first have to find weird mining outpost, then script will spawn a weird crach-site nearby for you to find and only
then it will spawn a barnacle? And you have to do it in one session or it won't work.

Been scouring around Maia A 2 A . right below Obsidian Orbital.

general investigating POI spawns. Seems some sites have a large POI spawns. around one large crater edge on the outside Many many POI's spawn. always one in view with one or two others on the horizon. i just circled the crater finding new POI.

Seems odd some locations have more spawn rates and other locations it can be ages before even finding one POI.

Nothing curious found, ship wrecks and buildings, tea and gold hauls. Only one nice material found right at the bottom of the crater. Techinium 2 materials. first time i've found it new discovery for me, one more very rare off the list.

One nice screenshot from earlier system i was in Atlas. centre of many craters have a lump or mountain, but this one was quite like the Pyramids. nothing there i found but nice visually.
Edit, removed pic, looked dark with jpg convert.lost all the detail.will look at it again later

Yea, I was there today! HR-W d1-79 1 A

I'll probably be joining you later on on that, I feel like the Canonn needs an Interstellar Defence Force too ;)

LOL ing my pants XD

Thank you sir.
Update: I finally reached the exact coordinates of the guy hearing strange sounds around. Nothing to report.

Where there are people there will be griefers. I am on Merope 3c -49ish -29ish ready to defend/lure them away as needed

On this spot (Merope 3 C -49.44 -39.62) in 3302/10/1 nothing happened... just a Thargoid wet dream !

wetdream.jpg

Nada nothing not a scratch of any unusual audio, just everyday noise blasted out in dolby digital. 07

There now and nothing that I see, UA had no change either

We need to rename Merope 3 C after todays incident.
Scary moment until someone recognised the sound.
New name: Cynosure Skype
HIGH ALERT

The following video was recorded by CMDR Kola2dono on Merope 3C. Notice the creepy noise. Canonn Members have been dispatched to the planet to further investigate this.

If you mean the radio noise, it's the usual sound POI's make from afar, AFAIK. If you mean the background noise, it caught my attention as well when I first did hear it in-game - always seemed like an ambient sound to me though, experienced it a few times already - don't know if it has a meaning or not.

I have some video of the exploration I'll upload it later, but really nothing to note, maybe the sound but truthfully maybe I just never noticed it before

I can confirm nothing there.
At least I got some pretty nice recording footage of something like 6 CMDRs in SRvs looking around the area as I got close to the coordinates.

Yep the only sounds you can hear are the repairs and refuels to all the SRVs... Breakout the bbq...

This thread has already passed 10% of its capacity in 2days. Not going to last long.

Back to topic: Having spend sometime on Merope 3C, I also found nothing special there. Benefit of all the commanders there? This area can now be excluded from future scans:).

I can understand barnacles being this tough to find but I find it strange that we haven't found a single meta-alloy yet. I would have assumed they'd be more prevalent.

On an unrelated note:
Obsidian ant has the same paint job I do... rock on.

@R00TBR Yep that planet has never seen so many life forms in a single spot. I was there too :)
I'll keep with the hunt later, having a break.

I've heard the faint tick-tick-tick-tick sound before, while in my ship cruising along above planet surfaces. I thought it was just the sound of my ship groaning/creaking like it does during acceleration / deceleration / fast turns.

Maybe I was climbing slowly at the time? I recall slowing down and the sound stopping.

I believe the reason we're saying they're moving away from Merope is because free-floaters were originally found much closer to the Pleiades and then later at the 130-150ly distance.

Yes, although how they move seems to be unknown, at least for me. When I found one on the way to the Pleiades a couple of weeks ago, I stopped the ship about 40m away without touching it, aligned myself with the UA between me a Merope, and watched the distance to target. It didn't change in the few minutes I sat there.

I am on Merope 3C, and I have come across a repetitive chirping...seems to have a single source as it gets louder depending on where I drive and which direction I am facing.

This is my first time in the scarab, so is this normal, or should I be worried?
