UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I've also been following the forum since thread 2. So many people here now given the traffic report of obsidian we might have a team of 1.5k people or more. Some of them will post here. Some of them won't read the first page. Some of them will post theories. One thing is for sure it will hide relevant info unless you want to backtrack 20pages that were made in 30minutes. WHILE gaming!

Organise! We'll miss the point if it grows like this!

And my phone is on 3%....and have to feed girlfriend...

I'm still thinking about my theory:

- Nebulae carries the Barnacles spore
- A ship crashes on a planet inside the nebulae
- the crash forms a crater
- the spores attach the shipwreck's metal structure
- the Barnicle rises from the crater
- The Mist could be an hint

we have to think where a ship should crash... I think that the intersection of the star system eclictic plane is a good candidate "latitude" for every planet.

Shouldn't we split this forum a bit? I would but im not at home. The whole thing is getting hard to keep track and it makes it easy to miss something that might be important.

How about another poll for the suspected systems where we only post FACTS. Planets searched (polar areas most importantly maybe) etc. No theories. So we can see where other people were already looking.

Seriously. In just 10minutes this thread jumps to a new side, at this rate it's not efficient! Too many duplicates and too many theories that has nothing to do with facts and won't really help the search.
Yah. I appeal to the mods or whoever manages this PLEASE this really needs its own forum. For someone like me who's been trying to follow along all this while, now want to participate seriously, this thread moves way to fast. From when I logged out 12 hours ago on a moon in Merope to now checking up at work, there's almost 25 pages to sort through since last night, and a lot of it is nonsense.
.
THIS SUBJECT NEEDS ITS OWN FORUM

Spocksoddsocks confusion would have been that MB posted the followup post saying they'd been checked and in game in both threads, so it's quite forgivable.

It's frustrating yes, but it's also highly compelling as it has me out looking at pretty terrain when I could be using the time to play Fallout 4. Suspect I'll go back to Fallout for a bit this week to freshen up, but I can't help but feel that this hunt was planned as a way of getting people to actually have a reason to see the sights.

I think it's also possible that FD underestimated the difficulty of finding them and are currently deciding what to do about that without giving the game away.

Or finding a barnacle is season 2, just to keep us wet for thargoids in 2022.

drip, drip, drip, drip

How many drips does it take from a faucet for it to become a stream?

To your kitchens scientists!

Have anybody play those "creepy" planetary audios much faster? x200? In those prehistoric threads are some discuss(with link to youtube) where someone slowing down that "dave"-audio clip(movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey). That x200 slow-motion sounded almost same.

Fly into Merope and find out

Lol well the thing is i definitely would, but i don't even have enough credits for a Clipper! and UA's still elude me.

But yeah i'd definitely try it if i could. perhaps it's a hidden wormhole or something like someone else theorized in previous pages...

I think if Michael Brooks could just confirm that 'Barnacles' can be found from a ship scouting roughly 500km up I would feel a lot better. Also I do worry that the odd crash we have could be related to a 'Barnacle' site.

One would expect an in-game clue. Anyone picking up the mission with no access to this forum would have an impossible task.... Unless we have missed a clue in game of course.

Even though we are searching the correct region of space, it's still a unimaginable huge task.

The same was true of finding convoys - till someone found them ;)

You don't need a clipper. I have my Viper Mk IV out there and it works fine. Plus you don't need a UA either and the Pleiades is only about 300 LY away. Granted, your chances of blindly stumbling into a barnacle is as near 0 as can be, you can still try.

SSSSTTTTTOOOOOPPPP!!!! Seriously, just STOP for a few days. Take a break. Do something else. Make a thread for theories and a thread for facts. But whatever you do, DON'T POST IN THIS THREAD FOR A FEW DAYS, unless you discover a meta-alloy/barnacle. PLEASE.

UAs should still be pretty easy to find withing 135-150 light years of Merope. Jump in to one of those systems, and then go into any SSS you see. Be prepared for a combat encounter, but usually you'll find a lone UA just sitting there. Most people seem to find them within about 10 minutes.

I'm going to focus on searching >1g planets (preferably high metal content, not necessarily) with avg temps below 700C for ship graveyards. I think that's the ticket.
