UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Question for MB - are the 'barnacles' in the Pleiades nebula that are manually placed the only ones find-able or can the auto-generated ones be found as well? Or will it take the placed ones to be found first before the auto-gen ones start appearing in Pleiades?

I also assume based on your statements that other nebula now also contain barnacles that are auto-generated only but should be find-able now as well.

P.S. I'm really enjoying how difficult this hunt is.....

Well headed back to work for a few hours...

Couple of things...

1. There are planets that feature particularly prominent impact sites.. you've seen them because they usually feature a very large crater that looks like it has spewed in a petal/explosion like way ejecta outward from the impact site. If you pay attention to the "colored stripes" best way I can describe what the ejecta looks like a trail of barnacleesque mountains grow. I'm focusing on those type of sites now reason being is that an impact violent enough to smash through the planet's surface like that is bound to stir up some subsurface activity and expose different sorts of materials which the barnacles could attach themselves to and grow on... couple that with the fact that barnacle seeds may have been spread through the said asteroid that caused the crater... (see moon picture for an idea of what I'm referring to bottom left-center crater and its trail)

2. On the subject of subsurface activity... I wonder if volcanic activity may be a key item here.. for some reason I can't shake it but not the lava types but the Geyser planets may be important. There are a lot of living things that live off of geothermal vents and geysers right here on earth, especially in some of the most inhospitable climates like the arctic circle.. perhaps this warrants further study.

3. I have a suggestion for FD... Spotlights... as in LAPD Chopper spotlights. Right now I'd love to trade in two hardpoints for some serious candle power. Put that on your to-do list.

Quite a few people continue to believe that the TinFoil is strong with Merope.

It's a system that's actually being pointed to!

So - I propose, unless you (i.e. each individual CMDR) have a better idea that you're married to - that we all focus on Merope. Let's get every single one of the moons surveyed around the clock?

Aerial surveys for interesting features and surface surveys at the same time.

Basically - if you're looking for a planet, pick one in Merope.

Not an attempt at an order (I know I have no actual power!) - just a suggestion.

Edit - Sole Hunter's post wasn't there when I started writing :)

I've been on 1A and 1D recently. Heading somewhere else tonight though. The one that's yellow in the system map, I think that one will be my home tonight.
I'm with you. Someone said about 15 pages back we shouldn't overthink things. The UA's point to Merope, if the UA's and Barnacles are somehow related (and I have my own Thargoid theory about why they are) then Merope is where I'm spending my time, until I'm satisfied nothing is there. The Yellow moon is 2D, I spent about 3 hours poking around there last night and will probably be heading back there tonight.
.
This is my 1000th post.

I can't help feeling like we need a mod to change the name of the thread to include: "READ ALL OF FIRST 3 POSTS BEFORE COMMENTING" or something like that. It would help reduce clutter of people asking things that are easily found in those posts.
(By the way Rizal I like what you've done with the place, your posts at the start are seriously helpful!)

AYE AYE!

Question? Has anyone flown their ship into the blackhole in MAIA while having a UA in the cargo hold? Are they a key to having the ship travel to another dimension?
I have read that the UA transmit a code of the ship carrying it or near it. Maybe it allows you to travel thru the black hole into witch space.

I'll settle for a night vision module. Needs something to search the dark side of those planets.

Hi there. CMDR Mike Mart here. I've just summed myself up to the forum and the Barnacles search. I must be lucky cause I've found an UA but I have no idea what I should do with it....

Dead Center PR5, row 2, seats 5 and 6.

So my though was - Dead center of the nebula is Maia, planet 2, moons 5 and 6 So was checking out planet 2 around Maia B (Black hole) which has a 5th and 6th moon, but nothing but maybe am odd scanner signal

At this point I'm expecting the solution to be "spin 360 degrees on the 8th parallel at the midnight light of Merope and sprinkle Water of Shintara on a Mesonderite then quote Hermes Trismegistus to turn it into a Meta-Alloy"

"If it's permanent darkness people are looking for, only objects that are tidally locked to a star count - these are likely to be hot - maybe too hot for meta-alloys."
Surely the dark side of such a planet without atmosphere is going to be incredibly cold. The dark side of Mercury is -173C and it's not tidally locked.

True enough

Anybody in merope 1b ?
i just approached this poi and got killed by turrets coords in picture not sure if persistant. but unusual lights and got me rather quickly for just basic turrets.and yes i am elite before you ask.Screenshot_0145.jpg
