Here's a little idea...

A) We will know when a Large Barnacle is nearby.
B) They are not so large as to be seen from Orbital Cruise

In combination this suggests to me that the barnacles may emit a loud noise, like the UA does.
Allow me to quote myself in order to add that instead, or in addition to, the Barnacles may draw our attention by scanning us, assuming we get a scan notice in the SRV.

Did anybody test yet if a ship cargo scans you whether or not your SRV will notify you of the scan? Or when you drop the UA from the SRV?

thats kind of interesting. Some people at canonn and i were talking about how if you have the UA on any given planet it gives off pulses of colors in a shockwave pattern at slow intervuls. the only colors we have seen so far are green red and yellow..

UA's have a faint blue-ish mist surrounding them when first encountered in space, and the particles that buzz around them are blue too. Combined with the fact that the head has a green/blue rippling texture, maybe that's somehow linked?

EDIT - oh, and for the answer to the original post: it's volatiles that determine what colour the mist is.

Has anyone ever seen a geyser?

They are not in game yet.

Do we know what the different mist colors mean? I'm on a planet with yellow mist right now but I've seen red and green mist on other planets... does one have more organic compounds than another?

It depends on the star's color almost always. Same thing the planet color and the strange colored Canyons. Planet composition has some influence as well.
A mix of both.

Just a few questions, sorry if some have already been answered or are just plain obvious....

1. Random POI, Persistent POI, or mix?
2. If can't been seen from orbital, can we get an estimated height they are visible?
3. When in SRV, are the detectable with the scanner or are they like the persistent crash in the Orrere system, where the wreck itself wasn't detectable, only the cargo it carried?

Thank You for any answers to these questions.

Read the Front Page. You'll find your answer.

Probably not.

Michael

I think that Barnacles have a lot of that, on the contrary... :D

It finally just happened. I was on my to a couple of blinking lights (containers) in Pleione 6 and my SRV just out of nowhere exploded. I don't think I was low on fuel it just up and exploded for no reason.... Are some of these places mined? I thought I remember reading mines are in game now.

Also how do I get another SRV first one that goes boom on me.

Is the color of the mist different from that of the sun + planet color?

I've found numerous craters with fog/mist and the fog all matched the color of the sun, and the planet. For example, Blue star, blue mist. Red star, red mist. etc...

If this isn't the case, it would be curious.

One thing that might be worth looking at is the planets that have an almost grass-like or alternate color to some of the canyons.

Regarding those ticket seats, does anyone know what stadium they were for? And where in the stands they were situated?

I've given up looking for barnacles, I'll wait for someone else to find them. Not once have I seen the ukn_barnacle even been loaded on my PC so I know I'm not looking in the right place.

Oh yes we going to find some!!!! Just after we have spread the fumes of the ua everywhere within the nebula so we have seeded every moon . its coming in a short time cmdrs!!! we are been used by an alien race to contaminate our own galaxy !!! Said the naked guy at the corner of the street in Manhattan lol

I think you restock them at a station. After all, SRV''s are just ammunition for the Vehicle Bay, right?

They should really program the Tea Canisters to have the code name 'barnacle' in the raw files, and vice versa.

Well took a trip out to the Hind nebula since it's a single star nebula, out there poking around right now but nothing of note at the moment

Hope you have better luck than I in the Spirograph Nebula. Similar situation with single star nebula. Was scouring one of the planets there when I immediately crashed on the planet. For some reason, the only thing that had damage in my ship was my canopy (shields weren't even completely lost). Canopy integrity went to 0. I thought you could repair them now with the AFMU, but it wouldn't work for some reason. I tried the reboot/repair and it said a component was fixed, but it still wouldn't let me repair it so I asphyxiated and then exploded :(

adding to my finds on KN Muscae 1, another crashed nav beacon.
this planet is giving me the creeps for some reason

eddit- wont post anything else until I find barnacles

2nd eddit - I lied, found yet another crashed nav beacon, 3rd today, not sure if this is something or not but it sure is odd

.

I had the exact same thing in Pleione and i read more about it this day on reddit i believe

Are we ruling out the Pleiades Sector systems?
No! if you go and read my original post (Found here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=222049&page=159&p=3406611#post3406611).
I stated that I think it is better if we search the Seven Sisters star systems first (of which there are actually ten!), of the ten I have ruled out four, for not any planets you can land on.
After searching these System and if nothing is found then we could expand outward to systems such as Pleiades Sector systems X,Y and Z, however I do believe a Barnacle will be found on a
planet (of which there are 77 to search!) in one of the Seven Sisters systems.
