I already pre-ordered the rift but I think this poll will be a bad example of how many players will get one. I mean how many players actually check the forums on a regular basis? Everyone I know might do it monthly if that. So people like that would never even see this poll.

The poll currently indicates nearly 2 to 1 interest in the Rift over the Vive. My work is done. Obviously the response is statistically invalid if all potential ED VR users are considered BUT I would presume that a great number WILL read the VR part of this forum, especially in the last 2 days since the Rift preorder went live. This poll was designed to illustrate that ED users have a significant requirement for the Rift to be supported and I think that has been demonstrated.

Preordered a Rift so that's what I'm going for.
I truly believe this will be the highest quality headset. HTC will need to pull a couple of miracles to beat it imho.
Haven't had a go with the Touch yet to also make a conclusion.

Also - Elite will run with the new runtimes, chill

Have you seen the lateste developer version of the Vive? It looks awesome. I think it's going to be better than the rift and thus cost more. The rift may be better price wise for most people I'd imaggine.

I'm not in any panic about the CV1 price - it's natural that first to market gets to cream some profit back. Fair play to them for paving the way ... but right now, I 'm attracted to the Vive because .... I like the way it looks! I feel like such a fake!

That front facing camera could become really handy. I've not been convinced by the tracking with the DK2 so I'll be interested to hear if it improves with CV1 .. otherwise .. sharks with tracking laser beams all the way.

I'm in the 'wait and see' camp. My DK2 will last me just fine until both headsets are shipping promptly and we have confirmation about their experience with ED.
Given the rift pricing, the market for 2nd hand DK2s will remain strong - I'm very glad I didn't sell it before the preorder was announced.

Vive for me. The additional feature of being able to interact with the real environment while still in VR is just too good to miss.

This poll is a fraud. All 79 Rift owners have already voted, there will be no more - everyone else will go HTC :)

I've selected both the Vive and the Rift, but I'll make my decision when more details come out about the Vive.

I'm currently leaning more towards the Vive. I don't care so much about lighthouse, but the front facing camera is a "YES!!" I can't count the number of times I've had to use the keyboard in the game. Each time I've either fumbled for he keyboard or had to lift the headset to key the right thing. The Vive looks like they have the solution to that.

Liar! ;)

I own a rift yet I've selected the Vive, but that's because there was no "Wait" choice. I don't really intend to make a decision until all the facts (price / performance / support) are known. As a DK2 owner, I can afford to wait. ;)

I cant wait! CV1 haunts me, need ED in VR.

What a strange assumption to make.
My Decision to buy the rift CV1 is based on the quality of the oled display that has been reported to be better than the current vive model. Also having integrated surround audio is also an advantage.
I do like the integrated camera in the vive though I think people will be even more unpleasantly surprised by the price of the vive. They keep saying Premium or High end. This thing will cost you big time me thinks.

Anyway the reality (pardon the pun) is that if I can stomach VR, I will most likely get both to make sure that I can play any of the titles I want. Just like I have PC and XBOX and PS.

I'm a bit dubious as to the nature of the images from that camera. All the CES hands ons I've read talk about a ghostly bluish outline image that's meant to chaperone you rather than give a pass through to reality. Even then I've tried Gear VR and the pass through is awful, despite the S6 having a top end camera. Might be limitations of S6 processing or something... But I'd be a little cautious of just what the Vive is until the reviews come in.

That was my thought as well, but in an interview, Chet Faliszek dropped a few hints that the camera is open to developers. That would suggest the whole "blue outline" thing is a factor of the lighthouse software just throwing up unobtrusive boundaries rather than a function of the camera itself. I don't care too much about the quality of the camera; as long as I can make out the keys on my keyboard, I'm happy with that. I really don't want to jettison cargo in the middle of a station instead of lower landing gear again because I couldn't see my "L" key.
