UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I wonder if one of the FD watchers have the ability to tell us the total game time that CMDRs have spent in Merope (and possibly the other key systems) since Thursday.

If so - Fancy a sweepstake? I'm going for 2,500 hours.

When I checked last night more than 1400 ships had been through Maia in the previous 24 hours. More than 800 Asps.

There a number of them, if you try to get in through slot they will fly out to you push you back out, if you make it inside they shoot at you from inside as well.

An assault on Imperial citizens is an assault on the Emperor herself. The wicked shall be tested against the Emperor's might, and be found wanting.

No. We're looking in the Pleiades because Michael specifically said they can be found in the Pleiades and then latter clarified that there are fixed POIs with barnacles there. The only thing that has changed with the latest clarification is that he's confirmed that Merope is not special for barnacles (and thereby implied that Merope may not contain a fixed POI). But plenty of people were already searching other Pleiades systems and presumably Merope will still generate random POIs containing barnacles as often as any other nebula system.

No I think you're missing my point. It's exactly because we are only looking at the Pleiades because Michael specifically said they are there that is making me annoyed with the whole thing. We made the assumption early on that the Barnacles were in the Pleiades because the UA's pointed there, then Michael basically says that the UA's aren't pointing at Merope because of the barnacles, so our one in game connection is gone. So either we were expected to somehow work out his "obvious" reason for why the Barnacles were in Nebulae and then search some Nebulae for untold amounts of manhours OR there was some other clue, and all my requests for a simple yes/no on whether there even is another in game clue have gone unanswered and I have spent a whole lot of time searching for clues.

If there is some in game clue I wouldn't mind, but then I'd have liked for Michael to give us hints towards where that is, not hints towards where the Barnacles are, the very fact that he felt he needed to do it this way suggests to me that this really is as vague as I feared.

It's also irritating that he even needed to come onto these forums in the first place, GalNet exists for this kind of information to be shared with the community.
Anyway this is bringing up old stuff that I had already mentioned earlier today, I am not content with how this is going and will not be spending more time in the Pleiades because after 30+ hours all told searching planets I've grown very much bored of it.

That's not to say I don't think people who are still enjoying themselves shouldn't bother or that they are wasting their time, if you're enjoying yourselves then that's all that matters, it's a game, but I am a long way from being the only one who feels this entire plotline has been poorly handled, breaking immersion every step of the way and not following any decent logic. I will also add that it's this forum thread and the hilarious people in it that are the only thing that have kept me looking into this for as long as I have, you guys are great and I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow and say "screw it" and start searching the nearest Nebula.

A blockade in Maia? Time to get the FDL out.

They don't even know what Barnacles are, and have failed to mention that they're actually Barnacle Spikes of Alien decent, not part of the environment.

In most cases Barnacles are bad for the environment.

You can split the wave scanner in half - bottom half is natural objects, top half is man-made stuff.
Your wave scan is a cargo canister - but not gold

It's not though. There's no cargo canisters there. I found a cargo canister sitting a couple kilos away, that's just consumer technology, with nothing around it, no crash site, nothing. I'm thinking maybe I found a thing that someone else had already hit? I don't know how instancing and respawning work on planets.

Greetings all, not sure if this has been discussed yet but upon reading the quotes from MB I started looking into planetary Nebulae and came across this:

I'm assuming the elements mentioned are a reason as to why barnacles are supposedly in Nebulae? Thoughts?

Nebulae can be the result of a super nova, generating the heavier elements the barnacle might be after/gathering/eating/growing from?

The right in front of you means broken cargo. The one on the left means cargo intact.

It was so nice playing in open in the Pleiades. Best experience I had of open play so far.

Too bad it has to end.

Oh well...

know how you feel. I've had to dry dock my anaconda as I no longer have enough rebuy.

On the plus side, I've brought my DBX out of retirement...

I was thinking of heading to get my FDL as well. Take some of them down with me at least

It finally just happened. I was on my to a couple of blinking lights (containers) in Pleione 6 and my SRV just out of nowhere exploded. I don't think I was low on fuel it just up and exploded for no reason.... Are some of these places mined? I thought I remember reading mines are in game now.

Also how do I get another SRV first one that goes boom on me.
I assume you must be referring when I posted "Landmines confirmed!" which was simply in reference of my own random explosion. It may even have been in Pleione. I've been there over the last few days, and quite possibly on the day of the random explosion.

I'm not an Elite lore expert by any means, so forgive me if I'm incorrect, but didn't the Thargoids have extensive contact and communication with the Alliance? Pretty sure the Alliance saved them from some bio-weapon or something and the Thargoids gave them one of their capital ships as a thank you? Explains how they know morse code and our language.

This might have hapened, depending on which story arc FD have chosen to follow.
Either way, Allliance reps. were in contact with Thatgoids.

Been in Mobius group with no probs tonight. Did a few hours scanning Atlas at low altitude without any results. It's too late now, but I feel like digging the Corvette out and going into open to help out! I'll see what it's like tomorrow night. Good luck Commanders. Signing off for the night o7
