True that Ice would be trapped .... but again using the trailer as 'evidence' of structure composition .... couldn't the surrounding 'trees' and the central core be a kind of Thargoid mining operation.... drilling into the ice to tap into netrient sources or even down to liquid water which might have amino acids/proteins

Theres one Icy body (many volatiles) with CO2 Geyser volcanism. If theres an active geological setup could that provide a stream of volatiles? I *may* need more coffee.

Just on a hunch, has anyone spent a lot of time searching Pleione 4? It's the only landable ringed planet in the nebula (or at least, near it) and has 1.86 Gravity, and a LOT of mysterious green patches on it you can see from Orbit. Spent a little time on it myself and found a lot of wrecks, maybe worth a closer look?

I have, and still was until a few hours ago... nothing so far.

Sometimes I've heard what sounds like the pitch/roll landing correction tick-tick-tick warning sound near and above planets, without 'red-zones' or any other HUD warnings.

I thought maybe it was audio bug, where the sound doesn't stop playing from take-off. Haven't noticed in a while though.

In general if you are hearing something and not sure if it's your ship then you can turn flight assist off for a few seconds and see if the sound goes away. If it does then it's just the auto-compensation with flight assist.

(Of course, be careful doing this when above high-G planets).

Should have gotten a shot with Maia B in the background :p

There's some pretty good views of it on, uh, I forget the exact designation, but there's a moon of a gas giant around Maia B that also has a moon of its own. Might be able to get an interesting shot with a moon, of a moon, with a gas giant in the background, which orbits a black hole that is also in the background.

DAMN now I want to go take a picture myself o.o
Could you mean Palin's Rock, Maia B 1 B A?
It's rather close to Maia B 1 B, another rock, which orbits the brown dwarf (?) Maia B 1 that in turn orbits the Black Hole Maia B. You can see the gravitational lensing quite nicely from the surface.

HI there.

Can you add to the sheet the systems without planets?

I plan to use the old manual scan method trying to check if the Nebula blocks our scanners and there are some "hidden" planets out there.

NetSlayer's sheet has systems that have no planets in them, I've added enough of them ;) Though there's still some systems that haven't been added, if you want to go and scan them.

Please share system/planet details.... we need eyeballs on this escapade unless O' Hairy One can confirm / deny any of these hypotheses (which would assist our effects immensely)

We beseech thee O great Frontier, show us the light :) (Preferably green light)

I was away for a while, any news about the barnacle?

Some say it's hidden on a hidden planet, in a hidden system, which is hidden in a nebula which is hidden and is exceedingly rare to find one!

I say it's bugged and causing the game to crash - that's my opinion though

Right, back in Maia to spend another 8 hours searching. Got any suggestions for planets to search (Within the Seven Sister Systems?)

Potentially, anything is possible. Which is why I'm narrowing the search, but not too much! We can only make educated guesses about these, until we find one, work out what allows it to live where it lives and then get them consistently. There could be icy bodies that are getting enough heat on one point to release volatiles and give a localized atmosphere.

I'm also hoping someone just stumbles across one accidentally. I'm running out of notepads! :D

I see. Well, until they fix the bug of randomly exploding SRV I don't see the point of me continuing to do rock staring all day

News (at least reliable ones) considering Barnacles are regularly updated on the first page of this thread (the 1st three posts or so), so be sure to check it from there rather than adding up to the replies - this is already an huge thread. I guess it would be too much asked from people to keep from posting fairly vain replies.

EDIT TO ADD (in order not to expand this thread further than necessary):

While I was in Witch head nebula (some 200-300 LY from Pleiades) I encountered a medical convoy at Strong Signal Source. I didn't pay much attention to that since I was looking for UA. It was a Python with couple escorts. However, before I Frameshifted away, I noticed few lines on the comms which didn't mean a lot then, but now that someone mentioned medical convoys somewhere (cannot recall where) I began to regret I didn't stay longer tailing the convoy.

The convoy Python announced something to these lines: "Cargo secured, I think..." suggesting that something was going on? Has anyone else found such a convoy? If not, and in case they might be relevant considering barnipples, I might be returning that system.

I've spent all my time running around looking for barnacles, only to realise NOW that barnacles rely on geysers to operate on Earth. Why aren't we searching near geysers on planets marked to have geysers on them? >_<

Filtering planets now.

Are there even Geysers in-game?

I thought not.

I'm starting to come around to this opinion.
