They look funky in the dark.

okay.. couple things that have been on my mind after catching up here this morning.

first of all.. if someone offers you a whole lot more money for something.. then they are probably the evil scientists/corp. we should probably focus on helping the other guys who first offered the mission.

second. were we supposed to just find a random barnacle in the pleiades and then they were ready to send us to the conda with galnet? because the conda is way outside the area we were searching and not too obvious of a place to look. MB made it seem like we would find a different one easier then the 5C one but we didnt. im just wondering if there is more in the pleiades we should be searching for. maybe more clues to lead to the next step. i dunno. im at work attempting to theorize instead of doing my job. lol.

Very tinfoil hat....
Could Caine Massey have been a shadow corporation trying to reuse old thargoid/alien tech to generate new weapons / defenses and it 'got away from them' and started getting out of control / because of its semi-organic nature ... could have intelligence

I don't think it's that tinfoil.

I believe 60 or so years ago INRA were working to prevent pilots heading out towards the Pleaides Nebula and beyond, as though they had something to hide.

I did mention a little while ago...

Could the C logo on the Barnacle relate to Caine Massey? ;)

The Anaconda was carrying crates of materials to deliver to the Barnacle when it crashed.

Following on this trail of thought...

The Barnacles we have found have all been on 2 planets close to colonised space. We know that the rarer of the materials are found (possibly exclusively (confirmation needed)) further away from colonised space. The Anaconda that crashed was carrying a hold full of these rare materials to help "feed" the barnacles. It is (is it) fair to assume that these materials needed to have been collected far away from the bubble.

We know from Michael that another nebula they are found in relates to their origins and so the reason why we have only found these "small" barnacles is because they are an advance seeding area for them. Their owners are pushing their recon efforts closer to the bubble.

It's all already there, on the second post :)
edit: ah I see you've seen it!

I did not realize that went on in so many stages. I just saw the first mission update when you posted it originally. Looks like a "test" of multi-stage missions?

Has any "adjuster" or another NPC come after you with any interesting text after that last cryptic message?

Not yet, but I've been sat on Merope farming meta-alloys to deliver to the boys in the lab back at Bond Hub, if they do come after me they'll probably do it once I'm flying with MA's in the hold, we'll have to wait and see

[h=3] Alien 'Barnacles' Discovered in the Pleiades[/h]15 JAN 3302

Dr Arcanonn of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group has released a statement in response to the discovery of non-human structures in the Pleiades Nebula:

"This is a momentous day – alien structures have been confirmed on at least two planets in the Pleiades Nebula! I must congratulate Commander Octo, who made the initial discovery on Merope 5c, and thank Commander Snax, who contacted me. Within minutes, Canonn scientists and other commanders were at the site."

"We now know of multiple barnacles on Merope 5c, and the corrupted message recently received in Maia has led us to many more on Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2."

"I can confirm that these structures produce meta-alloys, emit a sound similar to that made by the Unknown Artefacts, and bear mysterious markings that we have yet to identify. Some commanders have reported malfunctions near the structures, which might explain the crashed ships found near many of the barnacles."

Commander Lord Zoltan

... new from GalNet

The logo on the side of the barnacles strikes me as a very human thing to do. And then we have the UA transmissions - aliens don't use morse code. I'm convinced humans are somehow responsible for both.

Where might you find humans that have been isolated for so long that they've cooked up their own weird branch of technology using bio-engineered alien life forms? That use ancient morse code?? Who might use an uninhabited nebula as their insignia?

Generation ships.

Could that symbol be a stylized G and C?
Read a bit about the thargoid stuff from F:FE and the wiki said, that "GalCop" had some sweet tech.

Hacked biomechanical alien AI souced from old GalCop technology prior to the organization's collapse and the rise of the superpowers..

I love this possibility so much.... I do miss GalCop but I know it's dead and gone... this would be one hell of a twist!

YOU GET REP!!!!!!

In game GalNet reporting that Meta Alloys have helped out at Obsidian Orbital!!

Not on community site yet though.

Can you grab a screen shot?

Copy, Commander. Keep us posted, I am very interested.

Good luck.

Yep, I'm in agreement, except that I kinda think its some secret INRA tech that was developed using what we learned from the Thargoids or something. Maybe this is really a plotline to lead us to Raxxla?

Or it's just aliens and the insignia is a message to us, like we put on the Voyager probes
