Min Spec

Hi,

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, I am about to purchase a brand new machine, but have no idea what the min spec would be to play the game.

I don't want to end up having to upgrade once the game is released. Does anyone have any idea what spec would be required.

These are the recommended minimum specs for the Alpha - there are no minimum specs for the general release yet.

It is the Private Backers Forum and the post from Michael says:

"To play the first build released in December we're currently looking at the following:

Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU ( 4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
2 GB System Ram (more is always better)
DX 10 hardware GPU, 1GB video RAM(my reasonably low end machine has a GTX 285 with 2GB)

As I say we're looking to try and reduce the spec if possible through detail options and optimisations, so the final min spec for the game should be lower than that stated above, but for the initial alpha tests you'll need to be in that range."

The specs are above

There's min spec, then there's the spec you want for a decent experience.

The main thing I suggest you look at is your graphics card(s), which depends on how you intend to play. Will you run with a single screen (if so, what size/resolution?), or with 3 screens, or perhaps OR when it's released?

PBF access was one of the pledge levels on kickstarter and unless you pledged £75 or more that forum will be out of reach.

Just an idea but if you can say how much you want to spend on a new system then someone might be able to tell you what you can expect for your money so you dont have to upgrade a couple of months down the line.

I would suggest that when expansions such as 'seamless planetary landing' and the 'walking-about-ships/stations' are released, the quoted min specs are going to be somewhat lacking for an optimum experience.

You also need to consider whether you might be getting an Oculus Rift or other VR device.

I think for a good experience with a bit of future proofing (Yes I know it way above minimum spec but it should last a while) you need something like:

If you are thinking of using a Rift then the GPU may need to be much better

.

If you are not building/putting one together yourself, then have a good look around the big manufacture i.e. Overclockers, Dino, Mesh etc and when you have chosen one post it on the forums for comment.

Yes these are of very important elements to consider in the near future
