I just read that the Bubble Nebula used to have permit-restricted stars... but apparently no longer does...
Is there anyone currently searching other nebulae for a barnacle sighting? I've spend the day Combing through T Tauri of the Hind nebula, all three landables show nothing, might be related to the fact they are low (<10%) metal content.
Problem with that is that the meta-alloys are simply normal alloys constructed in a unique way that in-universe isn't possible by humans. Its properties simply come from its internal foamed structure. I think it's simply that this internal structure cannot be 'eaten' or is resistant to damage from the spore/radiation/whatever affect of the UAs, so making a station component out of it means it no longer breaks down. Remember that the description of the meta-alloys specifically points out that they're easily machined.
It would make sense that whoever/whatever makes this technology makes it from materials that are resistant to themselves. No point making a transport/probe/weapon/whatever the UAs are out of ordinary materials that will destroy itself before it achieves its objective.
So, anyone else spotted the spiral in the spikes?

It's undeniable - great observation from Aymerix @Galnet_France
I'm skulking around the Lagoon nebula, because I happened to be close. But frankly, I don't know what kind of planets I should be looking at, if there are any special circumstances to be aware of. So I guess I won't be finding any.![]()
That's because the ship and its components aren't made out of meta-alloys...yet?
York Fortress in Facececececcccacceece is offering 92,122 per tonne, if anyone just wants money.
so far it looks to be worlds with high metal percentages. Merope 5 C is rocky but with high metal content and the other one is high-metal with one of the more higher concentrations. both instances are being found in sandy canyons (from what i know) and as per MB they should be in or very close to Nebulae. Other conditions are what i'm trying to find out though
The yellow crates have viewing windows into them (Possible live 'alien' cargo?) Lots of warnings. Do we know where Caine-Massey are based, do they have any planetary bases or stations we could go 'investigate with extreme prejudice' ?
I'm having issues with the crash site spawning now.
Solo and Mobius - no crash site.
Open - voila!

Exit to desktop, close launcher and restart. Rinse and repeat till the barnacle spawns.
I haven't been able to check the entire thread today, so someone may have already mentioned it, but I am curious about this. I might just be seeing things here, and I am unable to get a good viewing angle from my ship. But this seems like it could be more than just coincidence...even though it isn't entirely perfect. What do you think?
This is the Pleiades overlayed on an aerial view of the Barnacle from Merope...
Not the barnacle, the crash site.
Don't make the same mistake I made and overthink the whole thing. I had been searching misty craters, getting involved with Cthulhu...the works.
Nah. Just look for pretty, yellow, veiny bits and patches on rocky planets in nebula. Metal levels are not an issue.
Look at Merope 5c for a perfect example of what they like.
The barnacles can be hard to see and don't always "pop" on cue though.
