UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

Most likely this is just the result of the way star positions were generated for ED, along with data from real star catalogues that was used to feed the algorithm. You end up with artifacts like this. I wouldn't read much into it. MB has addressed this sort of thing in the past, though I can't find the thread atm.

Thanks for ruining my day

It's always good for some of you who missed it, watch it. It's quite educational. Knowledge you may need now we're searching for Barnacles in the nebulae.
It also explains a bit how the ED galaxy map came to be.

No wonder the Thargoids want to avoid us. We make war for the sport of it. They must be thinking, "What is wrong with those crazy things? Must be their unnatural atmosphere and the weird climate they are comfortable at.":D

The Thargoids literally only exist for my (our) enjoyment. That's why some of us just want to shoot them. No one is advocating this sort of behaviour in real life; this is a game.

That's a great vid, now makes 3 you tubers i have bookmarked for elite vids.
Isinona and obsidian ant being the others.

Another 'Ahhh, hmmmm' moment here. So I leave it here for later lookup for the next systems we discover.
Just noticed it when I looked at the position of the 3 systems we've found the barnacle so far.
Not sure whether it means something though.

Sorry, description seems to be cached with the incorrect description. Should read "Merope at the bottom, Pleione middle, JC-U B3-2 top"
Taurus Dark region <-> Aries Dark Region

This seen from above Taurus, while Taurus overshadows Pleiades.
Hm. Not enough resemblance is it.

Thanks for these cool snaps - must have been quite a party.:D
Did you manage to get any interesting results in between all those well deserved astro-brews? ;)

I flew through the Hind nebula tonight on the way to the Witch Head, where I'm currently parked for the night. Didn't see any barnacles whilst I was there I'm afraid, but even so there are worse places to spend the weekend. This game is ridiculously pretty.

excellent work, posts like these have just enough credibility to make it worth investigating.

We could possibly be waiting for some sort of alignment event with the barnacles? I know there was that strange "eye message" that talked about tickets for seats to something, that was theorized to be linked to the barnacles somehow, and was thought to be referring to coordinates on a planet to watch this unknown event

I would forget about the tickets for now. It's a distraction until we have something that can link it to the UA or Barnacles.

However, ... a couple of thoughts:
1. Spokes. We miss another axis in the spoke. Merope being center in the X.
We could search outwards from Merope.
2. Take a look further up there at Taurus. Is there anything to find if we assume the logo matches up?

Very interesting and as credible as Barnard's Loop I would say. Another point on the line would be nice but it could well be worth starting to look at these areas as well. Anyone on their way?

So here's some important statistics about two of the planets in Pleiades that have been found so far, in one easy post:

Pleione Sector JC-U B3-2 1 and 2

Mass: .0004 for 1 .0003 for 2,
Temp: 379K
Gravity: .07 for 1, .06 for 2
High Metal Content Worlds
Silicate Vapour Geysers
No atmosphere
66.7% Rock
33.3% Metal
1 is Tidally Locked, 2 is not
Inclindation 9.66 Degrees
1 Periapsis 19.79 deg
2 Periapsis 199.79 deg

And they are Binary Planets, but not sure if that has anything to do with it. Considering how similiar they are, and that Barnacles were found on both, I would say these are stereotypical planets we might find Barnacles in.

For Merope 5C

Mass: .0099
Temp: 297K
No Volcanism
No Atmosphere
86% Rock
14% Metal
Tidally Locked

I'm currently searching through some of the Horsehead and Barnard's Loop and so far I have come across only a few close planets that are either way too hot, or don't have the Silica geysers, but neither have had a combination of both. But I would feel safe to say that we could probably narrow our search to these types of planets.

Merope 5C isn't as similar, and temperature is off by almost 100K, so this may indicate a favorable temperature range. So far in my search, I haven't found decent matches. Anyone else concur or want to share their findings?
