Will this help your Nvidia card run ED better.

This might help tweak performance in the Alpha for NVidia owners, seems like they are starting to compete with AMD Mantle.

NVIDIA’s GeForce 337.50 ‘Wonder Driver’ to be released on April 7th

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-...imizations-improve-geforce-cards-performance/

This link goes into more detail, it appears to be progressing towards competing with Mantle from this paragraph at least.

The GeForce 337.50 BETA driver takes a well known approach to solve processor overhead without moving to a new API (DX12 for example). The approach is called ‘Tiled Resources’ and a weak variant of the same is also used in Mantle API. This will also grant Developers more control at the Assembly level which will allow them to tweak performance for specific set of hardware. Just like AMD’s Mantle API which runs on GCN based graphics unit, the GeForce 337.50 Driver will improve performance of GeForce 500 series and up without the need of a separate API.

That look promising, I'm currently using a GTX 760 4GB so should hopefully see some nice improvements.

Well spotted nosscar.

That's been in the hardware forum for a few days already.

Fair enough, but if like me a lot of peeps don't often check the hardware section, but I think this is noticeable enough to be on the main forum for all to see.

I only just heard about this today. and we have the release date now. tomorrow.

It was news to me, thanks :)

As I read more about this, I don't see this as good thing - there's good reason why DirectX and OpenGL exists and that's so developers don't have to tweak low level details to squeeze performance from cards. This is practically acknowledge of de facto situation when most of AAA games already have different code paths for different vendors of cards.

Hi Folks,

We already have the same discussion elsewhere on the boards (here, in fact).

With that in mind, I'm going to close this thread to new replies, but I'll leave it here for the benefit of those who don't check the hardware forum often.

Thanks!
