Just skipped to the last page to post this in case nobody's seen it.

With all the discussions going on about causing Interstellar war etc, it might not be advisable; but it's significant, nonetheless:

From the EDC via CMDR RonkerZ - shooting the middle of the Barnacle with a beam laser causes it to glow...

Hmmm, not sure about that, I spent a long time (well talking like 5 mins) continuously shooting one with a C1 beam laser from directly above and I did not notice any change (not ruling it out).

I am away at Cali Nebula. PLEASE CONFIRM.

I don't like the idea of the icon being some far-flung part of space we'll never get to (since DB said the Milky Way will be it).

Among some other (largely untestable) possibilities, I *do* like this idea that it's a view of the Pleiades from some other part of space. So +1 there :)

I am a bit curious about outlier systems (such as White Eyed Pea) which could never be reached by 'conventional' FSD drives. Then we have the recent news about the Antares wreckage being found and the promise of exotic new drives being possible. It may be that certain remote areas of this galaxy have been locked off via distance, rather than by region permits.

Yeah I plan to sell the human race out hard when the thargoids come. :D

Splitter!

Greetings Commanders!

Yesterday I was at Trifid nebula and Cat's Paw, tried to find UAs without any succes, today I'm heading to Omega, I'll report later.

Fly Safe!

We may be dealing with two different Thargoid factions, one evil = UAs which corrode/damage modules when loaded onto ships, the other Barnacles = good, where their locations we find Meta-Alloys which seem to repair damaged stations.

Edit: Thargoid factions who are controlling the UAs and Barnacles.

Just a random thought here - and this is purely based on out-of-game reasons...

It seems to me, that it is very likely that Barnard's Loop will be a very important part of the game in the future. There are a lot of areas, and nebula within the game - but none of them are as well crafted as the Barnard's Loop region. It's clear that a lot of development time was spent on that area...and for this reason alone it leads me to suspect that such a significant amount of work was not done simply for the area to be a backdrop for the odd few explorers that venture out that way...

Has anyone compared the size of the small material containers to the pods on the UA?

They look quite similar to me, but I haven't checked them side by side yet.

Perhaps they are 12 lunch boxes of materials that the UA can feed on while in space?

I thought about the symbol as a cipher and tried to copy it into other round objects to make some sense.
Here is the symbol within the mayan calendar.
I'm not used to image editing, so excuse the crude paint-job.

I tried to finde calenders or turnwheels that have historical context and to overlay it with the symbol,
but i didn't find anything so far. Maybe it is highlighting specific words/choices in a historical code,
based on 1 to 3 rotating "wheels"?

The symbol also seems to not be round or quadratical,
but it is identical on each barnacle.
I thought about maybe overlaying the periodical system of elements with the symbol,
it might tell us what it does mine.
But to be honest, i think these thoughts are too far off.

Didn't we infect them guys during the war?? Then in the dying moments send the cure?? Talking us as a whole and leaving politics aside for now!! We find something that infects our ships and stations and now we have a cure!!.. My thinking is this is communication! A message to say it's them!! Anyway that's my penny's worth back on with the tin foil hat and open more hobnobs!!..

Well it's why I posted this....

But no-one responds, just talks about off topic stuff for pages.

The above is when viewed from around the California Nebula, which is why I spent yesterday trawling it (with no luck).

The feeling being the symbol represents the Pleiades as Lezip spotted.

Barnacles appear in nebulas, I'd like to think barnacles found in say Cali Nebula may have a different symbol backtracking somewhere else.

Or alternatively barnacles in some other completely different nebula have a symbol representing the nebula *they* are found in, and subsequently the various viewing angles can be "triangulated".

It's tenuous but for me the symbol matches Pleiades "well enough" and from a realism point of view I thinkit makes a whole lot more sense than it being LMC.

Sure, I remember it very well! ;)
And let me say I like very much the BOLDED PART of your theory: VERY MUCH INDEED!
I'm tempted to put it on the FP.

Is the a guide to finding (new) barnacles? How high you can see them (Night/Day side). Any hints/tips? I'm looking in the Hind nebula but I've no idea if I'm being efficient looking or not.

You did, it's clearly mentioned in your post.

We never said anything about them.

You must be hearing things.

:D

You would have to go to the far side of Barnard's loop to get the sort of parity with "The Logo" (Can we trademark that?) It was the first thing I thought of. I'm at the Witch Head at the moment, charting a few planets and looking to see if there any Barnacles there. But I'm strictly down to around 2 hours a week...

Edit: Thargoid factions who are controlling the UAs and Barnacles.

Remember though the UA's pointed us in the direction of Merope, which is where we found the first barnacle. Why would they do that if it's two different Thargoid factions?

I said it earlier that something seems a bit off and we should be careful.

Personally I think the answers are staring us in the face. But like "Where's Wally," it's just a matter of seeing them.
